Safety volunteers escort BART passengers to their cars

A group of Bay Area men says they’re tired of people feeling unsafe on the BART system after a recent increase in crime including the brutal killing of 18-year-old Nia Wilson and two other deadly attacks. The men are taking it upon themselves to provide security for BART passengers.

Where are the police?  Security?  The overpaid bureaucrats in the Liberal Utopia of San Francisco?  Why do a couple of unarmed volunteers have to protect people?

Rodney Alamo Brown is the group’s organizer. “Tuesday we came out with a contingent of brothers who wanted to make sure that the riders were truly safe so. In the wake of Miss Nia, we are definitely doing it on behalf of her,” said Brown.

For two hours a day the men who carry safety escort signs, are willing to walking anyone to their vehicles.

So what about the other 22 hours a day?

Although they’re doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. These men know some people will be reluctant to take them up on this service.

This is a really good point.  Who the fuck are these guys?  What vetting do they have?  What stops somebody from printing out their own sign, escorting a woman to her car, and once she drops her guard thinking that she’s safe with a volunteer, the fake volunteer rapes and robs her?

The men do it for free as their way of giving back. But due to BART’s contract with its police department, the only people currently allowed to provide security at BART stations are officers.

Clearly they are not doing their jobs.

“It’s great hearing that the citizens want to help and stand up and do something to help people feel safe at BART but obviously we want to make sure there’s a partnership in place. So people know that those people are someone you can trust,” said BART Spokeswoman Alicia Trost.

I have a better idea.  Bear with me now.  It’s gonna be a doozie.

Shall issue concealed carry.

Just let people carry guns in California, including on the BART.

That doesn’t require more cops or partnering with private security or volunteers.  That just requires signing off on permits and letting people protect themselves.

This currently works in some 38 states.  It could work in California too.

I know, I know, they are never going to allow it, but they make the case for it everyday.

  1. I think I would be in need of a Haz-Mat suit and boots to traverse the streets and public places of San Francisco along with a melee weapon. Coming soon to many other California cities. Imagine, soon each private building has a decontamination facility at their entrance?

Has the San Diego Hepatitis A Epidemic extended North to Frisco yet?
