Dearresting:
Attacking law enforcement and stopping them from executing a lawful arrest on a violent suspect.

In the past, this is the sort of thing that would get you thrown in jail or shot. Now it’s just another form of mostly peaceful protesting.
“Why are federal agents swooping in and throwing people not actively engaged in a crime into minivans?”
Because this shit happens when you try to arrest them while they’re actively engaged in a crime.
Also, because all law enforcement, contrary to popular belief, has the primary job of tracking down people who have already committed a crime; not stopping them in the act.
Because, when you arrest them in circumstance”b”, you are considerably less likely to have to shoot your subjects Confederates, which likelihood rises exponentially in circumstance “a”, to whit, in the midst of the riot.
And, however much some of us might find that to be a popcorn-ingestion-opportunity, the officers typically try very hard to avoid the kharma dent that accompanies shooting some fool(s)
Shooting them would result in state or local murder charges, regardless of the circumstances.
isn’t this usually referred to as “aiding and abetting?”
Interfering with an officer in the course of his duties.
The mistake the feds made was playing by the rioters’ rules, i.e. only arresting during the crime-in-progress, with all the suspect’s comrades surrounding and making things difficult.
The feds need to go back to what they were doing before: identify and track the suspect and pick him/her up when the rioters are in ones and twos, away from the conflagration. Make “dearresting” practically impossible.
And like I said in another post, the minivans should be equipped with cameras and equipment for recording the Miranda rights and arrest statements, and the federal agents should be wearing body cams just like local LEOs so that “You’re under arrest, come with us,” doesn’t become “Fascist violence!!!” on the word of another rioter. Document and save all of it, including the video evidence of the crime (the federal buildings have cameras all over, right?), so that when questions inevitably come up regarding the tactics and legalities, all your bases are covered, ‘I’s dotted, ‘T’s crossed. Official misconduct complaint untenable, criminal complaint indefensible.
