Every time I see videos like this, I think “how come nobody just walked to the vehicle and stabbed the daylights out of a couple of tires.”
It will not stop them, but it would be fun to see the car/truck driving away ruining wheels and possibly more. Also easy for the cops to find.
That would be stupid. You’d end up fighting both guys, and losing badly.
Get the tag, call the cops. It’s not your lawn tractor, after all.
Hm. I’d never seen the need for a remote start for a lawnmower before, but….
Keep a set of visegrips handy. Yank the valve stems.
What Z said. Pull it out with a Leatherman multitool, or slit the rubber valve stem. If it a metal valve stem, a couple kicks will probably break it off.

If it is an innocent mistake? Replacing a valve stem is a whole lot cheaper than a new tire (or with AWD, a whole set of four).
–
It can also be useful when drunks insist on driving.
Modern day people have been conditioned to “not get involved “…. And many modern day people have the “fuk it, they aint stealin MY shiite”… they the same ones that scream incessantly when prices skyrocket…store employees are told to not stop shoplifting.Equipment out front should be cabled together otherwise THIS is what happens…. they will get fired if employees try to stop theft.. In the old days this is equivalent to horse or cattle rustling and we all know what used to happen to them..
I was going to post a long response. But let me shorten it to: the risk-reward ratio just isn’t there for an individual to intervene, especially if the store itself cannot or will not defend its own property. There is no upside to the individual for intervening, but plenty of downside, which should it come to pass the store will not aid in mitigating.
What do you want to bet the keys were in the truck’s ignition? While they’re occupied with the mower remove the keys and see how fr you could throw them. I doubt they’ve planned far enough ahead to carry a spare set.
Then again, if Lowe’s isn’t sufficiently interested to undertake the minimum amount of effort to protect their property – meaning “their entire business” why should I engage in any degree of risk taking to do it for them?
Sadly, corporate just shrugs it’s shoulders & writes it off as “shrink” on the books and passes the costs involved to paying customers like every other store does. If it gets bad enough they just close and then the “locusts” have to find a new crop to destroy. It’s the same with shopping malls. Since relocating here I’v seen 2 malls close, another going downhill fast and the (sorta) new open village style mall being ruined by the same species of “locusts” that ruined the other ones. It’s gotten so bad that many shops have closed up and the sheriff’s office opened a sub-station there. A sure sign that place is almost lost too.
I was in a Lowes hardware store yesterday and noticed there’s a police substation in the store.
But is it a “no duty to protect” police substation?
I think Elrod’s last sentence is the right answer.
Knowing how many left wing DA’s there are out there that are just as likely to charge me instead of the thieves, I would do exactly the same as the person holding the camera. Take pictures/video then give them to the cops to deal w/.
