Do it for the children!
Philadelphia, the nation’s sixth-largest city, is strongly urging residents to shelter at home and “prohibiting indoor gatherings of any size in any location, public or private,” health commissioner Thomas Farley said at a news conference on Monday.
“We need to keep this virus from jumping from one household to another,” Farley said. If “exponential” growth of cases continues, hospitals will soon become overwhelmed and more than 1,000 people could die in Philadelphia over the next six weeks before the end of the year, he said.
Philadelphia bans all indoor gatherings as COVID-19 surges across the United States
The new restrictions begin Friday and will remain the rest of the year…or at least till Inauguration.
I have to say it, when they speak about weaponizing a virus, you would never have thought it would have been like this.
The bastards are good.

Seems to me we’ve heard the “exponential growth,” “explosion of cases,” “flatten the curve” rhetoric before.
Not that it’s necessarily untrue now, but given the erosion of confidence in the medical advice since the spring, it does bring to mind the story of the boy who cried wolf.
Or, to paraphrase That Sage aAnd Philosopher, Cleaving Little, “Nobody move, or my credibility Gets it!”
Autocorrupt?
Yep. “CLEAVON”
Seriously think these idiots are having ‘hold my beer’ competitions on who can make the strictest lockdowns w/o a general uprising (BLM protests not included of course)
Holy shit. Not even remotely sure how this is legal or enforceable.
Like I said, the dum-bro-crats gamed this out and are weaponizing the virus. I am serious that the virus is a joint venture between the Chinese and the dum-bro-crat party.
Wow. Banning all indoor gatherings? I’d need to know the definition of “indoor gathering”, including all exemptions and exceptions.
I have to ask because as a household of seven (2 adults, 5 kids), under Oregon’s new lock-down restrictions that limit party size at restaurants to six people — no exceptions! — we can’t even take ourselves out!
If we were in Philadelphia, would our family sitting at home, eating dinner and watching TV, constitute an “indoor gathering” and deserve whatever punishment they’ve decided is worthy of the “crime”? Does “Two’s company, three’s a crowd” still apply? What’s the threshold for “indoor gathering”?
There’s so much potential here for abuse, it’s not even funny.
When I’m near my wife, is that an “indoor gathering”?
Impeachment is clearly called for here, followed by a swift trial and harsh sentencing.
Since this panicdemic started, has any hospital or medical facility in any city/state been overwhelmed? Yes, I know there were some pics from NYC, but there are just as credible reports that most hospitals were empty, waiting for the flood of people dying from the virus.
Seriously, where are the bodies? These measures might be appropriate if the initial guess of two million dead was accurate, but we are having a hard time finding a dead body from someone who did not already have one foot in the grave. (And the other on one a banana peel.)
One more point!
The surge in cases, and potential for massive death/hospitalization is so overwhelming and immediate that a lock down is necessary. Feel free to go about your normal business for the next 72 hours though. No danger there.
