According to New York Police Department statistics, about 3,500 civilians in the city of 8.5 million have “business carry” licenses, and another 2,000 guards have permits to carry guns while working. About 15,000 retired law enforcement officers have a type of license that’s specific to them. The department didn’t provide a breakdown of licensees by race.

Five times more retired cops than civilians.

Add 30,000 armed NYPD officers and what you get is a city of unarmed subjects caught between the Powers That Be and the Criminal Element.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. Governor Hochul and the Democrats will resurrect every trick Jim Crow Bureaucrats used to disenfranchise Blacks and put them to use in preventing carry permits; and if that is not enough, they will invent new ones. Despite Justice Thomas’ clear warning about sensitive zones, they will do their best to declare enough of NYFC “Sensitive Zones” to make it impossible to legally carry for more than a block or two in any direction in any part of the city.

They will not only declare Subways and Buses “sensitive zones,” but my bet is they add Taxicabs, Uber, and everything transit related EXCEPT the limos and black cars only the “good people” can afford to use.

  2. Legally, “may issue” may be kaput.

On an individual jurisdiction level, possibly not so easy. After all, the MA SJC has been ignoring Heller and MacDonald for a decade. GOAL needs to take on Maura Healey and smack her (metaphorically) with a rolled up newspaper.

  3. My guess that they will pass a “shall” issue permit system that is so expensive, time consuming, and with so many restrictions (i.e. arrested for illegal fireworks as a kid? no permit for you.) that ordinary citizens, and especially Backs will either be denied, or won’t even try. Another round of court cases will be required to determine what ib reasonable requirements foe a carry permit and what is onerous with the intent to infringe on the right to bear arms.
