From WLBT3:

Mississippi church destroyed by arson was suing city over safer-at-home order

A Mississippi church at the center of an arson investigation is the same church currently in a battle with city leaders over a COVID-19 safer-at-home order.

First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs was destroyed by what investigators believe is an arsonist.

Investigators found graffiti on pavement in the church parking lot that reads, “Bet you stay home now you hypokrits (sic).”

The fire comes after [Pastor Jerry] Waldrop filed a lawsuit in April against the City of Holly Springs. The 14-page document claims local police officers disrupted a mid-week bible study and the church’s Easter service 10 days prior.

According to the complaint, the pastor held outdoor services when possible but would hold them indoors while practicing social distancing during inclement weather.

The issue stems from Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves’ inclusion of churches with essential businesses in the state’s safer-at-home order, but the City of Holly Springs did not.

Holly Springs City Attorney Shirley Byers says the city did not consider churches essential business in the safer-at-home order issued March 23 but amended the order April 24 to allow churches to hold drive-thru services.

Recap:

The Governor declared churches to be essential.  In the Deep South, that is an absolute.  The city government overrode the state and shut down the churches and had the police harass worshipers.  The pastor sued the city to reopen and someone has burned down his church because of it.

This person is presumably anti-reopen, and being both violent and political, I’m going to assume a Democrat.

Given the history of Democrats in the South burning and blowing up churches of people they hate, I believe this theory holds up to scrutiny.

I’m afraid this will be the next step in the fight over lockdowns.

The anti-reopeners taking vigilante justice against business that reopen when the police can’t or won’t shut them down.

Reopen and the Left burns down your business.

I’ll keep and eye on this story.

Stay safe out there.

  1. I am beginning to believe that the lockdowns began as a reasonable response to the virus and the information that we had, but have since been taken over by people who want to destroy the US in order to replace the government with a Socialist/Communist government, or at least use the destroyed economy to oust Trump.
What you are seeing now will only get worse as the election approaches. Expect more violence.

  2. Why do you think it was an unhinged leftist, and not a state-sponsored act of terrorism? It’s not like traitor cops and the wanna-be tyrants commanding them have been at all shy about it.
