It’s not the guns

There are lots of people in the comments blaming the guns, gun culture, MAGA, the Republicans, and the NRA.

Let’s dig into the story.  The headline is terrible.

14-year-old allegedly kills sister over Christmas gifts argument

But the devil is in the details.

Two male Florida siblings have been arrested and charged after one of them allegedly fatally shot their sister amid a Christmas Eve argument over presents. The second brother then allegedly shot the other for shooting their sister.

A 14-year-old brother is accused of fatally shooting his 23-year-old sister, Abrielle Baldwin, in the chest, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. His 15-year-old sibling then allegedly shot him in response.

According to Gualtieri, the younger brother was jealous that their mother was getting his older brother more gifts while they were Christmas shopping, and a “family spat” ensued.

The family then left the store and went to their grandmother’s house where they continued the argument, with Baldwin’s sons intending to stay with her grandmother while she went to work.

The 14-year-old then allegedly produced a pistol and pointed it at his older brother, declaring that he was going to shoot him in the head and attempting to get his brother to fight him, which the older brother refused to do. Their uncle, who was also in the home, then separated the brothers and took the younger brother out into the driveway, according to Gualtieri.

Baldwin then allegedly told the 14-year-old to stop arguing because it was Christmas, which escalated the argument, with the 14-year-old then allegedly declaring that he would shoot her and the infant she was holding in a baby carrier, after which he shot Baldwin in the chest, according to the sheriff.

The 15-year-old then walked outside the home with another firearm and allegedly shot his younger brother in the stomach because he had shot their sister. He then left the scene, tossed the firearm into a nearby yard and fled to a relative’s house, Gualtieri said.

I have two kids.

There were arguments over presents at Hanukkah and Christmas.

Nobody in the family considered killing another person over that.

This isn’t gun culture.  This is something else, entirely.

According to Gualtieri, minors have been obtaining guns through car burglaries or by purchasing inexpensive stolen weapons on the street.

“In the last thirty days, we’ve taken reports where seventeen guns have been stolen from unlocked cars,” Gualtieri said.

According to people interviewed by the sheriff’s department, the teen brothers carried guns on them “all the time,” Gualtieri said.

Gualtieri said both brothers were arrested for committing “numerous car burglaries” in May 2023, while the younger brother has arrests dating back to when he was 12 years old.

This isn’t NRA gun culture either.

Also, lock up your guns.

Don’t leave unsecured guns in cars, they get stolen by garbage like these thugs and are used to kill people.

Clearly this is not the product of what the Left loves to blame. This is the product of their own bigotry of low expectations.

Tell them not to remove Penn from Pennsylvania

The National Park Service is planning to remodel Welcome Park in Pennsylvania.

 

The Park Service describes their plan this way:

The National Park Service proposes to rehabilitate Welcome Park to provide a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors. Welcome Park was designed by the internationally acclaimed design firm Venturi & Scott Brown Associates. The park is located on the site of William Penn’s home, the Slate Roof House, and is named for the ship, Welcome, which transported Penn to Philadelphia. The design and construction of Welcome Park was funded by the Independence Historical Trust and was completed in 1982.

The proposed rehabilitation of Welcome Park includes expanded interpretation of the Native American history of Philadelphia and was developed in consultation with representatives of the indigenous nations of the Haudenosaunee, the Delaware Nation, Delaware Tribe of Indians, the Shawnee Tribe, and the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The reimagined Welcome Park maintains certain aspects of the original design such as the street grid, the rivers and the east wall while adding a new planted buffer on three sides, and a ceremonial gathering space with circular benches. The Penn statue and Slate Roof house model will be removed and not reinstalled. In a separate and future effort, new exhibit panels will be installed on the south site wall to replace the Penn timeline.

Let’s recap:

The statue of William Penn will be removed from the park that is on the grounds of William Penn’s house, in the state named for William Penn.

Perhaps one of the most moral founding fathers on American history. A quaker who was anti-slavery and set of a colony explicitly on the principle of religious freedom.

Go to this site here and tell the NPS not to remove Penn’s statue.

The date of submission is January 8 – January 20.

The confidence of ignorance

This is the sort of confidence that comes from total ignorance of history.

How does that land whale expect to survive a fight?

I believe that she believes that a second Civil War will look like a big George Floyd or Pro-Palestine protest/riot.

Thru block traffic, they set fires, they smash windows, and we surrender.

They are used to being treated either kid gloves.

They fire mortar fireworks at police and the police come back with tear gas.

They block traffic and then they cry and scream when some car pushes through them at 5 mph, giving them plenty of time to get out of the way.

Thru can’t conceive of real pushback.

Of when they block traffic, a driver gets out with a rifle and starts shooting them.

They throw rocks and frozen water bottles and the return is M855, not pepper spray.

They’ve never cranked the violence knob past 3 or 4, so don’t understand what violence really is and how to prepare for it.

They learned about Yugoslavia from their tankie friends.  They have never heard of Rwanda.

History books are what they set their bongs on.

That green haired hippopotamus will be found dead in the streets because she was too fat to be marched all the way into the woods to be shot.

This is an old bit of audio, but it’s going viral again and is more relevant than ever.

 

The man did break into the woman’s house, rape her, and beat her to within an inch of her life.

Nobody came because budget cuts resulted in the local Sheriff laying off 23 of the 29 deputies it had.

Now consider on of my last posts about the massive shortage of officers law enforcement departments are dealing with as retirement and quitting are up and recruiting is down.

You can call 911 but nobody is coming.

The department is strapped for resources.

Prepare to defend yourselves.

Have a security camera and a plan

Having a security camera that you can view real time has become vital for personal safety.

It allows you to see that not just are these guys not cops, but they are also armed.

So what would I do?

The gun comes out of the safe.

The family takes a defensive position, upstairs master bedroom closet.

I have a vantage point from the master bedroom door that provides both cover and concealment, down the staircase to the front door, giving me an elevated firing position on anyone trying to kick in the front door.

The wife calls the police and stays on the phone with them while I maintain my armed position.

Figure out in your own home where a good defensible position is that you can use to watch your security camera when someone bangs on your door at dark o’clock.

Horse Performance

If you are enough of a firearms enthusiast to be a regular reader of this blog, by now you probably heard that Gaston Glock, founder of Glock Pistols, has died at the age of 94.

My wife showed me a video on TikTok made a while back about Glock.

It’s funny.

A younger woman who really likes horses…

 

And apparently the cost of inseminating her is facilitating inseminating horses.

That’s why there is a Glock horse breeding facility in Austria.

 

Who I really feel bad for is the unlucky Glock engineer.

See, I’ve worked for engineering companies while owned by one dude, and what that dude gets a wild hair up his ass, it’s his prerogative to have his engineering team solve it.

So, I completely believe that somewhere in Austria, some poor Glock engineer had this conversation:

“Hans, I’m taking you off the subcompact 9mm.”

“Yes, Mr. Glock. Are we going to submit something to the United States Army Modular Handgun System solicitation?”

“Yes Hans, but that’s not what you’re being assigned to.”

“Of course, Mr. Glock.”

“This is something of a special project.”

“Yes, Mr. Glock. What is it?”

“A horse semen collector.”

It just makes me glad that the Germans I work for don’t have mistresses into horses.
