O’Brien Manning

Bradley Manning picked the wrong name when he changed it to Chelsea.  He should have changed it to O’Brien.

This is what he posted on Twitter today.

All I can think of is O’Brien’s monologue to Winston in Part 3, Chapter 3, of 1984.

When Manning puts a rat in my face cage, I’m going to name it Bradley.  I hope that Triggers him.

BS By the Numbers

The Hill posted the most click-baitiest Tweet of the day.

ALMOST DOUBLE DIGITS!!!  OH MY GOD, THE NAZIS ARE EVERYWHERE!!!

The headline of the article is a little more honest, but just a little. Survey: 9 percent call neo-Nazi views acceptable.

The poll The Hill refers to was done by ABC News and the Washington Post.

The actual question that the got 9% answer was No. 7.

 

 

Do you yourself think it’s acceptable or unacceptable to hold neo-Nazi or white supremacist views?  Do you feel that way strongly, or somewhat?

Roughly 9% of Americans believe racist shit.  The Hill would have you believe this is the end of the world.

According to the Huffington Post the number of Americans who believe in conspiracies about the following subjects are:

  • The 9/11 attacks: 54.3 percent agree or strongly agree
  • The JFK assassination: 49.6 percent
  • Alien encounters: 42.6 percent
  • Global warming: 42.1 percent
  • Plans for a one-world government: 32.9 percent
  • Obama’s birth certificate: 30.2 percent
  • The origin of the AIDS virus: 30.1 percent
  • The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia: 27.8 percent
  • The moon landing: 24.2 percent

You read that right, more than half of all Americans believe in some sort of 9/11 conspiracy theory.

When Democrats were asked the questionHow likely is it that people in the federal government either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East?” 50.8% of them said it was “somewhat or very likely.”

It seems like when it comes to the worst terrorist attack in American history, more than half of Democrats believe horrible, stupid shit.

According to another poll, 14% of Americans believe that the moon landing was faked.  So 5% more Americans, or 16 million people, believe that Neil Armstrong took his step in a sound stage than believe it is acceptable to hold Nazi views.

More than one quarter of Americans believe in astrology and Democrats outpace Republicans when it comes to believing in hokey bullshit.

Since the implication is that only white people hold white supremacist views, let’s look at a racist belief floating around the African-American community.  Nearly 50% of black Americans believe that AIDS was made in a lab, and 12% believe that it was spread by the CIA to destroy the black community.  Likewise, 14% including Maxine Waters believe that the CIA created crack cocaine to kill black people.

Hell, the best data I can find is that roughly 10% of Americans engage in some cross-dressing.

The Hill can try to convince American to shit their pants in the horror that President Donald J Trump is causing America to become a neo-Nazi state.

However, you are more likely to find a Democrat man in a bra and panties who believes that George Bush planted bombs in the Twin Towers, vaccines cause autism, and NASA never landed on the moon because he would feel it in his spiritual energy if they did; than you are to find a Republican that supports neo-Nazi beliefs.

 

 

More reasons for reciprocity

George Carroll moved from Texas to Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, New York.  He was threatened by a neighbor with a box cutter so he moved again, with his wife to the safer neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York.

He was stabbed to death just outside of his home.

The suspected murderer, Gary Correa,  is 19 years old, with 13 arrests, including those for robbery, burglary, and drug possession.

Carroll was stabbed because he looked at Correa.

Correa and another man chased Carroll and his wife down the street before stabbing him to death.

As last ditch effort to get save his life, George Carroll threw his cell phone at his attackers.  It did no good.

One state over, in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese survived an ambush attack by drawing his own concealed weapon and firing back at his attacker.  His attacker was then shot by a probation officer.

Two spontaneous attacks.  Adjacent states.  One man dies, stabbed to death for looking at a career criminal.  Another man lives by fending off his attacker with a gun.

Christina Romero Carroll should not have to bury her husband.  The city of New York should be disposing of the body of Gary Correa.  But the laws of New York cost George Carroll his life, easy on criminals and hard on law abiding citizens.

I don’t know if George Carroll knew how to use a gun, but as a native Texan I’d like to think he did.

The next time some innocent man is chased by two assailants for merely making eye contact, rather than throw a cellphone, he can launch some hot lead their way.  Until something drastic changes, New York will continue to be a place where human garbage have a nearly unfettered ability to prey on the law abiding.

New Meanings

In my post Welcome to France I covered an article from Slate titled Dozens of Activists Turn Selves in Spartacus-Style for Crime” of Toppling Durham Confederate Statue.  I commented that it was awful that Slate referred to the destruction of a public monument as a “crime” with sarcastic quotation marks.

Of course the destruction of a monument is a crime.  It doesn’t matter if the monument is offensive.  It doesn’t matter if the the people that destroyed the monument feel that it glorifies racism and slavery.  It is still a crime to attack public or private property.

Since then, things have gotten worse.

Professors Rally Around a Student Who Became the Public Face of a Confederate Statue’s Fall.  Takiyah Thompson was the person responsible for pulling down the Confederate monument on Durham.  She is also a communist, a member of the Workers World Party and a supporter of the North Korean regime.  One college professor who saw her act of vandalism said that she was a hero.

“She is an inspiration to watch. She gave a brilliant interview, was arrested, came out and had a big smile on her face. She is resilient and smart and knows she’s done something that has awakened the conversation around race.”

Other professors have tried to get Ms. Thompson a scholarship.  Yes, public university professors are trying to reward her, financially, for being a criminal.

Over in Berkeley, Yvette Felarca was arrested for inciting a riot.  Felarca is a teacher (of course she is) and a member of BAMN – By Any Means Necessary – an ultra violent Leftist organisation.

Well, during her arraignment she said in court “standing up against fascism and the rise of Nazism and fascism in this country is not a crime, we have the right to defend ourselves.”

Except she wasn’t defending herself.  She was attacking a guy for carrying a flag.  Again we have someone is trying to redefine the word crime to not including violence against something that offends her.

Dartmouth Professor (again, a Leftist teacher) Mark Bray said the same thing over the weekend on Meet The Press.

In an insane bit of coverage by CNN on Antifa, this concept ware reiterated.

Antifa activists often don’t hesitate to destroy property, which many see as the incarnation of unfair wealth distribution.

“Violence against windows — there’s no such thing as violence against windows,” a masked Antifa member in Union Square told CNN. “Windows don’t have — they’re not persons. And even when they are persons, the people we fight back against, they are evil. They are the living embodiment, they are the second coming of Hitler.”

Crow explained the ideology this way: “Don’t confuse legality and morality. Laws are made of governments, not of men,” echoing the words of John Adams.

Who on the Left cares about property rights when something is offensive.  It can be destroyed without consequence.

Here is the problem where is ultimately ends.  Some poor dude in Colorado got stabbed because of his haircut.  Apparently his high fade was just too neo-Nazi chic and some radical had to teach him a lesson.

When the message is “it’s not a crime to attack and destroy things you find offensive” we are all fair game to these radicals.

The Great Emancipator

I thought I would post part of one of the most important speeches given in American history.

Given the tearing down of Confederate statues and Iconoclasm of American history I wanted to turn to the the words of Abraham Lincoln at his second inaugural address.

To put this speech in perspective.  The Civil War would end within a few weeks of this speech.  The Confederacy had effectively been defeated.  The 13th Amendment had been just been passed by Congress.  America needed to be healed after four terrible years of war.

Lincoln was known for his rather short speeches.  His second inaugural address was no different, it started out with him saying so.

At this second appearing to take the oath of the Presidential office there is less occasion for an extended address than there was at the first.

Lincoln then addresses the war and slavery in two paragraphs.  He ends with these words.

With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.

Lets look at the first part of his closing one more time.

With malice toward none, with charity for all.

He then goes on to say.

[L]et us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphans.

Lincoln could have very much celebrated the victory of the Union.  He could have chastised the Confederacy, and rubbed their noses in their imminent defeat.  He could have been vainglorious in saving the ship of state.

But he didn’t.  His speech was modest.  He knew that the defeated Confederates would soon enough be his countrymen again and he wanted to end the war with no hard feelings.  Only “malice toward none” and “charity for all” would bring lasting peace and not fuel the fires of resentment.

What we are seeing today is the antithesis of Lincoln’s desires.  The quote of the zeitgeist might as well be  “with malice toward all, with charity for none.”

How sad it is that when we fail to teach the facts of history we forget the lessons of it.

Goofing off at the Wal-Mart

I went to Wal-Mart on Sunday night for some critical toddler supplies.  I was checking out when the cashier and I had a little encounter.

Wal-Mart Cashier: “Do you have glasses for the eclipse?” *Points to eclipse glasses*

Me: “I have everything I need.  Glasses, stone basin, cold iron knife.”

Wal-Mart Cashier: “What?”

Me: (Completely deadpan) “You know.  For the human sacrifice, to summon the Elder Gods and hasten the apocalypse.”

Wal-Mart Cashier: “Excuse me.”

Me: (A little louder) “All praise the Dark Ones.”

Wal-Mart Cashier: *Hands me receipt*

Me: “Thank you.”

Wal-Mart Cashier: (To my back) “He needs to find Jesus.”

Welcome to France

Those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it.  It seems that America right now has been doomed to repeat the darker days of history.

I am going to have to disagree with Miguel’s assessment a little bit on where and when America is pulling its current batch of troubles.

America isn’t 1938 Germany, it is 1789 France.  I actually think that’s worse.

To be entirely honest, I really don’t see Antifa or a some marginal number of neo-Nazis actually setting up concentration camps in the US.  That’s just too much work for them.  Setting up that kind of infrastructure and mechanized death machine is beyond the capabilities of a bunch of snowflakes with degrees in Anti-Whiteness Transgender Studies.

That is the good news.

Here is the bad.

Let’s remember our French Revolution history.  The indulgences of the monarchy had pissed off the people of France.  Unlike the American Revolution, which pretty much had two sides, Tories (Loyalists) and Whigs (Patriots/Revolutionaries), the French broke up into a number of factions.

Two of the most significant revolutionary factions in France were the Jacobin and Sans-Culottes.  the Jacobin were an elite club of wealthy anti-Royalists.  The Sans-Culottes were  working class French citizens.  They were groups naturally would have disliked each other along class lines, but formed an alliance against the Monarchy.

The Jacobin did not like to get their hands dirty.  They were wealthy elite.  What they did was whip the Sans-Culottes into a violent frenzy and had the working class actually fight the forces of the King.

Doesn’t this sound so very familiar?

The current Jacobin are the Democrats and media.

Statements like those of Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal “I hope Trump gets assassinated,” is exactly the type of rhetoric that fuels the divide.

She’s not alone,

The non stop debasement of Trump and his supporters by the Democrats and media, not just actual-factual Nazis, but all supporters as racist, sexist, homophobes, fuels it.

Step 1: All Trump supporters are Nazis/Nazi sympathizers.

Step 2: It’s OK to punch Nazis and stone sympathizers.

Step 3: Deafening silence by the media on criticizing Antifa/making criticizing Antifa tantamount to being a Nazi sympathizer.

  Brit Hume is now a Nazi because he Tweeted about this article criticizing Antifa.

Democrat elected officials and members of the press are part of the #Resistance by turning Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and a whole motley assortment of other (mostly college age) activists to be their Sans-Culottes boots on the ground.

This is not a Wermacht like army, this is groups of angry, violent young people smashing things.  The French Revolution, for that matter, was not fought by regular armies or trained militias as much as it was bouts of violent uprisings and marches (until the Napoleonic wars, but that came later).

To further this parallel, one of the great tragedies of the French Revolution was Iconoclasm.  Catholicism was the official religion of France to the enraged french set about destroying French churches.  Art, relics, and any imagery associated with the monarchy or the regime being rebelled against was vandalized or destroyed.  The revolutionary parties in France sought not just to purge the monarchy, but any reminder of the monarchy.

Many other people have made the point that it starts with removing Confederate monuments in the dead of night and it will end with the destruction of all American patriotic iconography.

Nancy Pelosi and Cory Booker have demanded the removal of all Confederate imagery from the Capitol building, call them “reprehensible.”

The Washington Post says “We should treat Confederate monuments the way Moscow and Budapest have treated communist statues,” with total destruction.

Slate put sarcastic quotation marks around the word crime in their headline about the mob destruction of a Confederate monument in Durham, NC: Dozens of Activists Turn Selves in Spartacus-Style for “Crime” of Toppling Durham Confederate Statue.

In fact it is a crime to destroy a public monument, even if it offends you, but the Jacobin at Slate want their Antifa/anti-racist/BLM Sans-Culottes to commit the acts of destruction so convince them that they are in the right as they vandalize the public space.

With the destruction of Confederate monuments now a socially acceptable act (that only took a couple of days to accomplish), America’s founders and greatest presidents are headed to the bonfire.

In the last 48 hours, a pastor in Chicago has demanded the renaming of Washington Park because George Washington was a slave owner, a bust of Abraham Lincoln was defaced and social media declared anybody who defended Lincoln is a racist.

A commentator and activist on CNN declared that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson memorials be taken down.

Vice wants to get rid of (“blow up” in the original headline) Mt. Rushmore.

At the rate at which the Left has normalized the public desecration of  Confederate monuments, I’m sure Washington, Jefferson, and the rest of the men who signed the Deceleration of Independence and ratified the Constitution will be  ousted by the end of the year.

Though a tiny part of me will be humored when Lin-Manuel Miranda is comes under siege from the Social Justice Warriors for his musical Hamilton since Alexander Hamilton did participate in the business of slave trading.  No matter how much of Leftist ideological purist you think you are, there is always someone to Left of you with an ice pick with your name on it.

So why is America’s experiencing the French Revolution  now so terrible.

The marches and riots of the French Revolution brought down the nation’s monarchy.  What took its place was the Reign of Terror under Jacobin lawyer Maximilien Robespierre.

The central image and most substantial mark on history of the Reign of Terror was the guillotine.  Many Frenchmen, some only loosely associated with the Old Republic, others who were revolutionaries but fell out of favor, lost their heads in the Parisian square before an angry mob.

Like I said above, I don’t see concentration camps coming to America.

I think we are headed down the road of a Progressive Reign of Terror.  Pick a progressive city, let the police stand around with their thumbs up their asses at the behest of Jacobin politicians, and an angry Antifa mob will turn into a public spectacle kangaroo court followed by public executions.  Be it hangings, beheadings, or shootings a handful of people will be accused of being racist Nazis in front of a jeering, black clad crowd.  The accused with profess their innocence.  It will fall of deaf ears.  Blood will be spilled.  As fast as the crowd appeared and the trial occurred, it will break up and nobody will be held accountable.

That will be enough to silence people.  It’s not Jackbooted totalitarians dragging people out of their beds in the middle of the night that will crush the people.  It is having the Antifa mob take something posted on Facebook, descend on the person in a mob, convict them of disloyalty in a farce of a trial, and guillotine them, that will silence America.
