Where do we go from here?

I am in Chicago on a business trip.  I found myself stuck in Chicago traffic and scanning through the radio in my rental car, came across a talk show host blathering on about the election.  Turns out it was the the Norman Goldman show (I’ve never heard of it before).  The host was encouraging his listeners and callers to sign the Change.org petition to have the electoral college officially vote for Hillary Clinton.  Some people have been going the extra mile and harassing or doxing electors to get their way.

He went on a long rant that Trump was exactly the reason the reason the electoral college was created.  It was one last check and balance in this country, giving the electors the ability to override the votes of the people in an extreme circumstance.  In a few states, it is the law that the electors must abide by the will of the voters, but for the most part the host was right.  He was factually correct – not that Trump was the reason the electoral college was created, but the principle of it as a final check is accurate.

He went on to say that the electors most likely won’t vote in Hillary because of political reasons, the Red states outnumber the Blue states and electors in Red states are going to want to keep their jobs….

What he never said is that if the electoral college decided to put in Hillary.  If a state shifted against the will of the voters.  The result would be bloody.  I don’t say that likely.  It would be the final evidence to Trump supporters, and everybody right of center, that the country is run by an elite few who will do whatever it takes to stay in power, the will of the people be damned.

The electoral college switching sides and voting for Hillary won’t be an act of a representative democracy peacefully transitioning power from administration to administration, but the anointing of a monarch.

The host’s suggestion would really destroy this country.  At first I thought this was an oversight.  After reading the news today, I think that was his intent.

The principle of the Left has become “I’m going to take my ball and go home.”  If they can’t have Hillary, we can’t have a country anymore.

The Washington Post lamented that states are obsolete and should be done away with.  What this of course means is that the 146 counties that hold half the population of this country (that I covered before) would be in total control of the country and craft every law.  Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC would set tax law and gun law and every other law they wanted.  This would not go over well with the people in Texas, South Dakota, Alabama, and every other state with a low tax burden and gun rights.

Van Jones is using CNN to create hysterics by spreading the lie that Trump is going to create interment camps.

Vice is pushing the idea that the KKK is roaming the streets in Red states threatening the lives of women, Muslims, blacks, gays, etc.

The founders of Black Lives Matter have steadfastly refused to meet with Trump and try in any way to repair race relations in this country.

Senator Barbra Boxer has drafted a bill to do away with the electoral college.  I’m pretty sure this would take a Constitutional Amendment, but even if it didn’t.  The bill is an attempt by the big Blue states to strip that last little bit of balance and influence from rural Red states.

The anti-Trump riots are continuing and have been going on for a solid week.

Hillary lost.  Now the left would rather have no America than a Trump, or even Republican, America.  I’ve already seen articles about how the senate, along with the electoral college, is unfair because low population rural states have the same number of senators as high population urban states.  The Washing Post has called for the abolition of the senate.  I wouldn’t be surprised if this became the next push by the Democrats.  I can’t think of a better “screw you” they could level against the flyover states they hate so much than reduce the Red states of Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming to having only one representative in DC.  California, with 53 Congressmen would have more than double the pull of the Midwest/great plains combined.

They are doing just about everything they can to foment the dissolution of the US.  Funny thing is, it wouldn’t be the first time the Democrats tried to tear this country apart if they didn’t get their way.  Last time, however, they wore gray.

Open Letter to Hillary’s Army

Dear Hillary Revolutionaries,

I have heard a lot of you over the last couple of days calling for a revolution.  You wanted Hillary to win and are angry that she didn’t.  Many of you blame the electoral college, which you accuse of handing the presidency over to Trump.  You are actually petitioning the electoral college to go against the will of the voters they represent and vote for Hillary.

Let me explain why the electoral college exists.  The each of the 538 votes of the electoral college represents one Congressman, one Senator, and three votes for DC.  The idea of the electoral college is the same as the Congress, to provide balance between equal representation of the population (the House of Representatives) and equal representation of the states (the Senate).  Why is this important?  If we didn’t have something to balance the interests of the population against the interests of the states, 146 of over 3,000 counties would pick the president.  By area, only 3.5% of the acreage of US would choose the president.

Look at the map below.

map-of-us-50-percent

South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Wyoming, Montana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, every state without a blue spot would have no say in the president.  The president would not be the president of the US, the president would be the president of Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami-Broward-West Palm, Austin, Houston, and Seattle.

Not just do you show us contempt by calling us rednecks and flyover country, but now you want to undermine our very representation in this nation.  Since we don’t want to give that up, you say we’re going to have to die.

Let’s be clear about this.  Your revolution will be over before it begins.

Sure, we have the most guns.  So what.

An army marches on its stomach.  Look at that map above.  Your food is grown in the gray areas.  Oil is drilled and refined into gas in the gray areas.  Coal and ore is mined, and the ore smelted into usable alloys in the gray areas   The factories that turn that metal into goods are in the gray areas.

You want a revolution against us country bumpkin, knuckle dragging, rubes?  We will shut off your power, shut off your food, shut off access to anything that can’t come in to ports of LA, NYC, or Miami.  How long do you think your banking and service industry economies will keep going before you starve?

You hate us but you depend on us.  Don’t ever forget that.

You wan’t a revolution?  You want to cut us out of a representative government?  I want to see what happens to all you soy milk latte loving liberals when the soybean farmers of Indiana and Iowa decided to stop selling their crop to Starbucks.

Keep that in mind.

Where’s my pin

Anti-Trumpers have adopted wearing safety pins for the purpose of virtue signaling, from the anti-Brexiters of the US.  Thereby demonstrating unequivocally that the Brexit vote predicted the election of Trump.  The safety pin is symbolic of a safe space, indicating that wearers of the safety pin stand in solidarity with histrionic crybabies.

Apparently, after Trump’s rhetoric, people on the left are afraid that Trump will somehow start rounding up everybody with a funny accent or with skin darker than his and have them all deported.  Because somehow a Trump victory will end the rule of law in this country.

Oh wait, a Trump victory did end of the rule of law in this country, they are called riots.  But I digress…

Their argument goes that with a Trump victory, everybody who voted for him a a racist and will be emboldened to harass people based entirely on prejudice.

As a result of this election, there are people with hurt feelings and they want to be comforted.

Here’s the thing.  I remember when Hillary said that the NRA and Republicans were her enemies.  I remember when a newspaper reporter said that NRA members should be rounded up and sent to Guantanamo.  I remember when a college professor tweeted that the children of NRA members should be killed.  I remember when a newspaper editor wrote that the government should go door to door killing gun owners.  I remember when Salon thought that every wannabe gun owner  should get shot.

I have heard more times than I can count that gun owners have small penises, are complete losers and douchebags, and are mentally weak and prone to violence.

Or all of this social media posting:

Years and years and years of belittling insults from the anti-gun left about gun owner’s masculinity, manhood, and character.  Years and years and years about how we should be attacked, reeducated, taken to camps, and killed.

Let me ask you this: where is the pin expressing solidarity with gun owners for all the hate we’ve taken over the years?

I like to target shoot and for that there are people that think my two-year-old should die to teach me a lesson, but I’m the bad guy.

I’m not buying it.  For all those wearing the safety pin after the election and ignoring or participating in the demonization of the people on the Right when you thought you were going to win… fuck you.

CNN and the road to hell

I caught this interview earlier on CNN and am glad I found it online.

Khizr Khan, the gold star father that got into an election spat with Donald Trump, was interviewed by Anderson Cooper for his reaction to the Trump win.

In the interview, Khan talks about Trump supporters intimidating Muslim-Americans and in one case attacking a Muslim-American woman.  I was shocked.  I haven’t heard anything about Trump supporters intimidating or attacking Muslims since the election.  I figured if it happened, CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the media would be going nuts with the story.  So for something like that to fly under the radar, I just couldn’t believe it.

I searched online and found this story about a woman wearing a Hijab who was attacked by Trump fans, only to find out she was a Social Justice Warrior who made the whole thing up.

What I did hear about was:

man beaten in Chicago because he supposedly supported Trump.

A man and his dog attacked for just being too close to an anti-Trump rally.

Anti-Trump protests that turned violent.

Open threats of lethal violence against Trump supporters.

But CNN is going to martyr Khizr Khan on live TV.

CNN doesn’t want to help the national heal.  CNN doesn’t want to help the Left understand why it lost.  CNN just wants to fan the flames and capture the action.

I can think of no better way of really highlight this than to say that the single BEST article I’ve read, trying to explain a Trump win to Liberals came from Cracked.com, which is a crude, comedy website.

How the world has turned

Before the election I read about racial violence and race riots in major American Cities associated with #BlackLivesMatter.

Before the election I read about rabid antisemitism on UC System campuses.

After the election I read about protests and Calexit.

I remember when it was the unhinged, white supremacist, far right that was calling for race wars, attacks on Jews, and secession.

Somebody needs to get the Progressive Left a really big mirror.

My post election comment

A lot of bloggers have been covering the post election collapse of the left.

It is almost tempting to laugh at the college kids at places like Cornell, Yale, and the UC system lose their minds in crying fits like toddlers who had their toy taken away.

It’s tempting to succumb to the schadenfreude of watching celebrities lose their minds over a Trump victory.

But I just can’t.  The histrionics following a Trump victory are actually WORSE than during his campaign.

Women are encouraging each other to get IUDs now—while they still can, because Trump has promised to ban birth control…?  My sister texted me and asked that I get a script for her birth control and get it filled and send it to her so she can stock up.  Seriously.

People are protesting because they are “in fear” and “hurting” because of a Trump victory.

Really, when did Trump say anything about outlawing homosexuality or forcing gays into conversion camp?

Then I saw this article: Another election surprise: Many Hispanics backed Trump.

I just can’t laugh at these people.  Our nation is fractured and nobody wants to try and fix it.

Do you know why “many Hispanics backed Trump” is “another election surprise?”  Because to the left, Hispanic and “Undocumented Immigrant” are interchangeable words.

MIAMI — The Hispanic vote was bigger and more influential in the 2016 presidential election, just as predicted, but it also provided one surprise: more support for President-elect Donald Trump than expected.

A USA Today reporter is shocked to find out that the decedents of Cuban refugees are, in fact, NOT migrant Mexican farm workers.  If you look at Cuban Americans who served in the House and Senate from Florida, the list is Mario Díaz-Balart, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Mel Martínez, and Marco Rubio, and they are all… brace yourselves… Republicans.

Faced with these facts, the idea that “Hispanics = Mexican Illegals = Democrat voters” is not accurate didn’t penetrate this reporters brain case.

This is just one example, of course.

Small business owners across the country complained that Obamacare is hurting their ability to stay in business and hire people.  In the US, small businesses employ half of the private sector workforce, create 64% of new jobs, and make up half of the nation’s economy.  Repealing or fixing Obamacare is a serious boon to small business and is a platform that Trump took.  There is a lot of space for debate here.

But this is the depth of the argument that was made by the Left:

killam

The losing side doesn’t want to try and understand why they lost.  They are just going to chalk it up to Trump voters are racist, homophobic, bigots.

This is where we are doomed.  If this carries on, we will never come together as a nation.  We might as well call it quits now.  The only outcome of this attitude will be, when they regain power in some future election, they will use their win to exact retribution.

perry-trump

If we can’t learn from this election, I am convinced that “Love Trumps Hate” is the last thing a former Trump voter will hear as a former Hillary voter shoves them into a gas chamber.

New American Revolution

With the election of Trump as President, here is my hope for an American Revolution.  That the good agents of the FBI ignore a lame duck Obama and his DOJ appointees and go flat out in the investigation of the Clinton Foundation, and present Trump’s DOJ with a welcome present of everything needed for across the board indictments and prosecutions.
