They Missed The Frigging Car.

Back in the Bloods & Crips era, the gallows humor was to say that the safest location in a Drive-By was standing next to the intended target. Anybody else in the surrounding four blocks was in serious danger.

They arrested one of the shooters in the silver car and guess what? He is a felon! And he is on probation for a prior Felon with a Gun  violation.   Here is to hope they keep him longer behind bars this time.

Let’s face it, J. Edgar Hoover did bad things just like people staying in a powerful position for too long, but I do believe he did a truck-full more good than anything else.  But after his death, the Left demonized him as he was the direct spawn of Satan on this Earth.

Now the Libs have managed to make the FBI into worse political weapon they accused Hoover to ever do. Let’s face it, he did not like the Kennedys, but sure as hell did not use the Bureau to sabotage the elections even when he had the info that could have done it.

Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said as far as his department is concerned there is no criminal issue. “They were shot into, from my understanding, the rubber background, and they are extremely, extremely hot, and water won’t put them out…those tracer rounds will stay lit for some while, so it could have smoldered for 30 minutes, 15 minutes, I don’t know I don’t have a time frame on when his shot versus when the range master was notified,” Lunceford said.

Those rubber backstops were very popular about a decade ago. They are made of compressed shredded tires glued with epoxy and they were sold in cubes of different dimensions, but IIRC,  no less than 3 feet per side. I also remember that they were marketed to the home owner that may have some space in the basement and wanted to have his own range.

I never gave it a thought till now, but tire rubber fires are a bitch to stop, if it is even possible.  The Rhinehart tire dump in northern Virginia, caught fire in October of 1983 and took nine months to finally die. That should give you an idea how bad they are and why Firemen just let them burn on their own and just make sure it does not spread.

But people, fellow shooters: Is there somebody out there that do not understand the fucking fire danger that tracer rounds represent? That cute light you saw going downrange was not Pixie Dust but fucking incendiary chemicals designed not only to illuminate but to set the enemy’s shit on fire.

And you go shoot that crap inside a building because you needed to be top cool guy that day at the range.

I caught Kathy Jackson’s excellent post about the Rules of Gun Safety (go read) and for our purposes, I want to share this passage:

The Firearms’  Instructor market is so (apparently) overcrowded that  gimmicks are the marketing tools used the attract clientele. One of those unfortunate gimmicks is to crap on the Four Rules because the instructor is “trendy” (he/she thinks so) and you actually will learn something “new” and not the old shit that died with Col. Cooper.  I don’t need to say that Safety, just like a traditional-cut tuxedo, never goes out of style.

This reminds me about 8-10 years ago when i actually heard some people discussing that the aggressiveness of piranhas was just a myth. Some of the reasons they gave was seeing the fishies themselves in fish tanks and aquariums where the owners would stick their hands without fear.  It was not my conversation and I doubted very much that any of the deniers would ever cross a South American tropical river so I left them to their delusions.

We have plenty of video and pictures of the consequences of people not respecting the Gun Safety Rules, yet somehow some idiot will come along and preach against them and he will get equally stupid acolytes because it is cool and trendy and so different from all other instructors.

And then reality will come and bite them in the ass…

I have seen this in real life with an old cow carcass. It was in a cattle ranch and they had to move a herd to a different location to have it branded & vaccinated so they gave the Caribes (as they are called in Venezuela in honor of the former cannibal indians that populated the Caribbean basin) something to feed and distract them while the herd crossed the river well away.

And if you are gonna complain that you have seen piranhas in fish tanks that are not aggressive, let me tell you why: They are well fed and probably gathered in low numbers. Then again you can prove me wrong and go swim in the river shown in the video.

To summarize: Don’t be a trendy douche, respect the Rules of Gun Safety.

I know it is some sort of Social tax that every Dancing Monkey has to pay to the SJW Altar, I get it. But we are now entering into the realm of the extreme stupid.

In fact, SJWs are not happy that there is an actual happy heterosexual couple in the DC Comics universe so they have a petition demanding that the Joker be transformed into a gay character without any regard for the feelings of Harley Quinn.

Now, if SJWs were truly open to all subspecies of human, they would be demanding another sexual change in a character and bring us Wonder SheMan.

There is a lost soul howling at the Gun gods because he cannot find 30-40 Krag ammo for his newly gifted bangstick. McThag is wailing like a lost puppy because he cannot take the rifle to the range.

So, please check your basements or your great grandaddy boxes, there might be some old ammo, cases, bullets, reloading dies, loading tables, anything. send it to him before we see him in a news item under Florida Man and something to do with feeding alligators to goats.
