Reader Erik Wilner pointed out today we are celebrating this joyful occasion and we need a proper post for it. It is a good thing that LawDog already has the best story out there:
Now, when I say pink, I don’t think y’all quite understand the depth of pinkness we are contemplating here: It was pink, pink. Neon pink. Fluorescent pink. A pink not found anywhere in nature. A pink that, in and of itself, constituted a radiation hazard. A shade of pink which, after a single glimpse, would cause the most flamboyant Mardi Gras costumer to protest that things had gone too far.
Don’t freak out…much. I am working on it and trying to make it available for all formats since there are weird people that no longer use desktops and almost exclusively them “smart” phone <cough J Kb cough>.
I think the one I chose is neat and a wee bit more pleasing to the eye., but I want to make sure I don’t miss anything and also prune out some stuff no longer relevant.
One thing I did get in this new theme is that the authors of the post will be more clearly defined. I know this was a point of contention among many readers.
Incidentally, the Presidential Blog Pool came and went and unfortunately for the participants and country in general, nobody won.
UPDATE: As you can probably (and hope) see, we are up and running the new theme. Go through the site and let me know how do you like it and any suggestions you may have.
Think of defending yourself from #COVID19 as slices of Swiss cheese. Wearing a mask or washing your hands is not enough because each slice by itself has holes. When the holes align, the risk of infection increases. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/b02bXOF4L7
You know what also works? Saran wrap tightly covering the nose and mouth. The person will die, but it won’t be tagged as COVID related.
This basically tells you nothing the Health Powers that Be and Dr Fauxci told us to “flatten the curve” worked worth squat. At this point is either throw whatever combination of stupidity and useless human tricks they can come up and see if they stick or starting to see what countries have no extradition treaties with the US if Pedo Joe does not give them a Presidential pardon.
I apologize in advance for the mistakes I will surely make and for my level of ignorance regarding legislative stuff in Tennessee. It is gonna take me some time to get it right and Lord knows it did take me time to get the Florida stuff down and I lived there a quarter of a century.
So far, I have not been able to get the full text of the bills, just summaries which makes me uneasy about giving opinions, but till I find where the texts can be found, I will have to go with probably messing up once in a while.
(Update:WizardPC shook his head and pointed where to the VERY obvious place where could I find the text. He has my devoted thanks!)
With that, we begin with a bill I figured somebody was eventually going to introduce: To penalize Gun Owners for leaving firearms unsecured in vehicles.
Firearms and Ammunition – As introduced, creates the offense of storing a firearm or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle or boat while the person is not in the motor vehicle or boat unless the firearm or firearm ammunition is kept from ordinary observation and locked within the trunk, utility or glove box, or a locked container securely affixed to the motor vehicle or boat; requires the owner of a firearm to report the loss or theft of the firearm to law enforcement within 24 hours of the discovery of the loss or theft. – Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.
When we do not take responsibility or police ourselves, there will be somebody who thinks knows better and will try to restrict our freedoms. This bill is the creation of Representative Mark White (R) (RINO?) from Memphis. Not a good start for the year when one of the supposed good guys goes a little Daddy Knows Best.
It ranks the hell out of me that rather than come up with something that would motivate positively gun owners to secure guns in vehicles, elected representatives come up with the baseball bat.
There have been some initially strange things happening after the shooting beginning with the local chapter of the NAACP getting involved and apparently in full support of the grieving widow.
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) – The NAACP and Eastep family speak out Friday following the fatal officer-involved shooting on I-65 Thursday.
The attorney of a grieving family called out law enforcement officials after 37-year-old Landon Eastep was shot to death in the middle of the interstate Thursday by police.
The wife Eastep leaves behind, 30-year-old Chelesy Eastep, spoke publicly Friday for the first time. Chelesy, the family attorney as well as NAACP all spoke at Friday evenings news conference. They said that Landon was taken too soon at the hands of law enforcement.
His wife, Chelsey Eastep, spoke out for the first time since his death. She acknowledged Landon Eastep suffered from mental health issues but said he was ‘very loving’ and would sometimes go for walks to clear his head as he did on Thursday.
‘I want people to remember that Landon didn’t deserve this,’ Chelsey Eastep said. ‘Landon wasn’t a bad guy. He was crying out for help, and his cries went completely unanswered.’
…
Chelesy Eastep is the widow Landon leaves behind. “Landon was very loving,” Chelesy said. “He always had me laughing.”
He was such a loving person and was so good to his wife that Chelesy had to get not one but two restraining orders against him last year (oops!)
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) – Court documents and a criminal background check reveal Landon Eastep had a violent history.
…
News4 discovered Eastep and his wife, Chelesy, had a rocky relationship. She filed two orders of protection against him in the second half of 2021.
The first order came on Sept. 3 in which Chelesy Eastep described fleeing to the Family Safety Center because “Landon was drunk and had been drinking alcohol all day.” She went on to say Landon “charged toward” her and she “could tell he was irritated,” so she went to the Family Safety Center to avoid an altercation.
After she left, she said Landon sent her a text message that said, “The next time you call the police on me you better call an ambulance with them. Where the f*** are you at.”
She said he proceeded to send her 50 obscene and vulgar text messages and left her a voicemail, threatening to choke and kill her. She told officials she was afraid of her husband.
He was so funny, she had to run away sacred for her life, right?
On Nov. 17, Chelesy Eastep filed another order of protection after Landon allegedly kicked in a door, threw a shelf at her and punched a hole in the wall.
She alleged he threatened her, saying, “If you call the police, I will beat myself up and you, so we can both go to jail. I will kill you.”
She called Landon Eastep “delusional” and cited a time he called police because he “thought there were aliens outside.
Days prior, she said, he threatened to beat and kill her dog.
“I believe he is capable of killing me,” she wrote.
That is pure loving husband right there.
Chelsey Eastep told officials on that day that he had a long history of abusing her. “In the past, Landon has strangled me multiple times and threatened to kill me with a knife,” she said
So why this sudden change from being the beaten, choked and scared wife needing to escape her home and obtain retraining orders to bereaved spouse demanding justice for is loving mate? I would not be surprised if certain political elements of the Nashville area promised her a big fat check coming to her in a settlement if she files a wrongful death lawsuit (with their help and appropriate commission) against the city.
And learning a bit so far about the political makeup of the city of Nashville, she will probably get her payday and so will the NAACP.
