The doctor is full of ….

This is grand.

Probably he is not a real doctor of medicine, but just some dude that managed to avoid working in HR by the tiniest of margins.

Let’s go over his tweet, shall we?

I remember my parents telling me about the huge lines on which people waited— eagerly— when the polio vaccine was released in 1955.

He is probably talking about the Salk vaccine but fails to inform (or probably does not know) that Salk’s was the last of a long line of tryouts that began in the mid 1930s. We are talking about decades or research and not a sudden 3-month creation which we still are not sure if it truly worked or not (And I did take the vaccine, so there.)

Do you know why we didn’t have anti-vaxxers back then?

We did have, especially since there were thousands and thousands of cases of people getting polio after getting the vaccine. It took more years of streamlining and getting the process right to make the vaccine as safe as possible, and even then iy was not 100% effective as an old friend of mine discovered and had to live with for the rest of his life.

Because there were no MAGAts, and Americans weren’t fu*king imbeciles in those days!!

And that is all you need to read to understand where this guy comes from. And I do love the photo he used because as bad as the polio epidemic was, you can see people were not masked and wearing face shields nor they were keeping a 6-foot distance nor the country was shut down for months under “two weeks to find the cure” bullshit.

Such a humongous load of Snake Oil it was that even those who trusted vaccination like me, no longer do.

I also predict we will see a huge raise in mortality in Third World countries precisely because even people there will no longer trust the vaccines that have years of safe and effective use. How do we know none of that COVID shit is not mixed with the old stuff?

Hulu’s Shogun. Yikes!

I gave it a try, 3 whole episodes.

And that’s it, I can’t watch it anymore.

I know, I made the mistake of reading the book and watch the old mini-series years ago, so I have a frame of comparison and that is “unfair.” Then again, the producers, director and actors could have used that same reference and deliver an equal or better experience. But they failed to do that.

Lots of CGI, probably to avoid costs but if you compare scenes and overall production from 40 years ago to the modern stuff, it is like comparing a Rembrandt painting with a fill-by-the-numbers from a 6-year-old. Acting is subpar going from the emotional expression of drywall to monumental resting bitch faces to Tom and Jerry over-the-top.

The script is “based” on the book, but probably in an effort to be “different”, they added and subtracted stuff that ends up creating some deep narrative holes.

If you are like me and watched the old miniseries and/or read the book, avoid yourself the disappointment and waste of time. If you haven’t, you may want to give it a try.

Because Pensions Must Not Be Lost.

Parents in Uvalde, Texas expressed their outrage after a long-awaited report on the Robb Elementary mass shooting absolved first responders of any failings in their response that day.

The Uvalde City Council held a special meeting on Thursday to hear the findings of the report into the May 2022 shooting, which left 19 students and two teachers dead.

The investigation found that none of the initial five Uvalde police officers who attended the scene violated policy or committed serious acts of misconduct, prompting outrage from victims’ families in the room.

Truthfully, I was pessimistically expecting this result. This not only shields the cops from being fired and having to work as Walmart Loss Prevention associates but protects (somewhat) the local county from being sued into becoming the parking lot of a closed Sears.

And somewhere another maniac just learned that there is a chance that he will be uninterrupted in his future killing because cos now can use Uvalde as an excuse not to get in the line of fire.

And probably the only people shot by cops will be armed parents rushing to the rescue.

And they still keep getting donations.

I have no idea how many years I have been saying Gun Control movements and groups are just ways to line the pockets of a few. And dumbasses everywhere still donate money to people that not only cannot deliver but fail miserably.

If I ‘buy” a product and it does not deliver, I stop buying it.

But economics does not seem to be the forte of many Liberals.

Weapons of war have no place on the streets of a civil society.

Of course, the New York subway is neither a street nor civil.

When it appears that Disneyworld is a cesspool of corruption.

Just a morsel of many more:

When Mr. Jennings then tried to inspect the electrical power plant in the district after this, he found that Reedy Creek possesses no power plant of its own (even though a nuclear power plant could have been built therein). All the electricity comes from third parties, according to Jennings. The electrical power plant he wished to see is “there in case of emergency” and while he did not get to speak to any of the utility employees, he states that activating the plant in an actual emergency would take so much time as to be counterproductive. The power plant is apparently an empty building that does nothing, which means that by claiming to have it and collecting taxes to pay for its upkeep, Disney and the Reedy Creek District have committed fraud.

Not only seems they defrauded the State of Florida but the IRS too. And that is just what they found so far.
