Workplace shooting & a lesson lost.

Just happened this morning.

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three employees were shot and the suspected gunman died after he was shot by a Metro officer while fleeing the scene at an Antioch business early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the SmileDirectClub warehouse at 1530 Antioch Pike just after 6 a.m.
Metro police reported a 22-year-old man, who works the day shift at the business, came in during shift change and opened fire. A total of three employees were shot, one was shot in the chest, another in the abdomen and a third in the leg, according to Metro police. One of the victims is in critical condition but Metro police did not specify which victim was critically injured.
Two of the victims were security guards employed by Allied Universal Security while the third was an employee of SmileDirectClub.

And I know you have a pressing question and the answer was given by the company itself:

SmileDirectClub released a statement regarding the shooting, which reads:

“SmileDirectClub is saddened at the shooting that took place at its manufacturing facilities this morning. The incident was contained quickly by security personnel on site. The safety of our team members is a top priority for our Company and we maintain strict security protocols and a no weapons policy at all of our facilities. We are working with the local police as they investigate this matter.”

I am going to go on a limb here and say your company fucking failed on both accounts! Are we to presume the shooter missed the hiring package part about the gun weapons policy or you just simply created an environment where a predator could come and shoot your employees at will because he knew they were unarmed and incapable of defending themselves?

And one last thing: Uniformed personnel gets the first bullets in a event like this. But for some reason (I might be wrong) I believe the security guards were probably unarmed.

I guess there are Gun Free Zones everywhere.

About that Systemic Racism the Left loves to talk about

Some of you may remember this little incident some decades ago. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the ATF:

In July 1995, national attention focused suddenly on an annual private gathering in southeastern Tennessee known as the “Good O’ Boy Roundup” (Roundup). News stories reported that the Roundup was a “whites-only” gathering of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and other federal law enforcement officers that resembled a “Klan rally” and at which these agents discriminated against blacks by posting racist signs, wearing racist T-shirts, performing racist skits, and playing racist music. A widely-publicized excerpt from a home video allegedly filmed at a Roundup showed a sign that read, “Nigger check point.” In addition, allegations of criminal conduct, including narcotics distribution and rape, were raised at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing held within ten days of the original news stories.

The link above takes you to the full text and you will probably (more than likely) be shocked to hell. And if you wonder about the consequences, take a wild guess what happened to the agents involved by thinking Operation Fast and Furious.

Somehow rather than bringing ATF to the high standards of conduct of other Federal Law Enforcement agencies, it seems we allowed to downgraded all of the agencies into the low standards of the ATF and then some.

Sometimes I do believe TSA is making stuff up.

The only reason I have doubts is 2 decades worth of experience with Florida Man.

A frigging chainsaw in carry on luggage? And yes, it is a carry on luggage intercept. This is their next tweet

With so much BS coming out the Feds, I do have the feeling this is not a case of the stupid. It may not be the case, but I am done giving the benefit of the doubt.

COVID Theater Of Fear: playing with percentages

This one popped yesterday afternoon:

Holy crap! Bodies must be stacking up in the morgue!

Not really.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Williamson Medical Center sent out a message Monday encouraging non-vaccinated community members to get their vaccine amid rising COVID-19 cases.

WMC reported a 633% increase in COVID-19 patients over the past three weeks. Currently, WMC has 22 COVID-19 patients with seven requiring critical care.

I am not dismissing or ignoring the plight of those people who are truly affected, but why does the TV station leads with an out of context percentage and then reveals the raw numbers? They are part of the COVID Theater Of Fear in the belief they can scare people into getting the shots.

Are the professional communicators so bad at their jobs that they cannot simply address the need to play it safe and get the vaccine?  Or is it that they enjoy the little bit of tumescence they get by trying to influence people with their craft and access?
