Spain depends on tourism to survive or at least it used to. While there is the regular tourism of tours and the Brit or Gringo coming out to check the sights and the food, there is also what I call Family tourism which is the “americanos” descendants of immigrants visiting the kin they have is Spain.
Back in my younger years and with a strong currency backing us up, we would occasionally take a trip to visit my grandparents and other people and maybe take a month to 45 days. Airlines would offer special packages with those time frames for the whole Latin America, but when the economies started to sag, they were dropped simply because people could no longer afford staying that long. So two and three weeks became the common time to spend.
But having to be locked down for 10 days to be allowed to visit your kin? Why bother traveling at all? It will be cheaper to get somebody a smart phone for the grandparents and use one of those video conferencing apps to say hi and explain why you can’t come visit this year.
Oh well, there is always bailouts from the European Union.
Vaught was criminally indicted for the death in 2019, and her court case has become a rallying cry for nurses who worry about the criminalization of medical errors. Vaught also faced this disciplinary case brought by the Department of Health, which initially declined to punish Vaught but reversed course after the details of her case became public.
They were ready to let her skate after she ignored safety protocols, did not even bother to make sure the medication she was giving was the right one and a patient died.
And she should not be tried criminally because fear other nurses and medical personnel may be also criminally prosecuted for also not being professionals and killing their patients.
There is a difference between a deadly mistake because of just bad luck or particular circumstances and deadly mistake simply because you just don’t give a flock.
We shoot somebody to defend life and still go through a criminal investigation. Again, we save a life and still get treated as a suspect till we get cleared.
My advice: Don’t get sick enough to have to go to a hospital.
RaDonda Vaught, a former Vanderbilt nurse who faces criminal charges in the accidental death of a patient, was scapegoated by the prestigious hospital to cover up “systemic errors” and “protect its brand,” her attorney said Thursday in Vaught’s first-ever public defense.
Attorney Peter Strianse said Vaught was “devastated” by the “tragic mistake” she made by giving the patient the wrong drug in 2017. But he also argued the error was made possible by flawed procedures at Vanderbilt, which permitted nurses to routinely override medication safeguards.
So, your contention is that your client is not guilty because the hospital system allowed her, a trained professional in the medical arts, to purposely ignore basic safety procedures which ended up in giving a patient the wrong medication that led to his her death? Did you just admit your client is guilty as hell?
I need more coffee.
UPDATE: Just saw this one.
RaDonda Vaught, a former Vanderbilt nurse criminally indicted for accidentally killing a patient with a medication error in 2017, was stripped of her license by the Tennessee Board of Nursing on Friday at a contentious and at times tearful medical discipline hearing.
At Vanessa’s Bistro in Berkeley, owner Vi Nguyen recently encountered a customer who stood in her kitchen doorway to yell at her after a server made a simple mistake.
“Not talk, yell,” Nguyen emphasized, sounding increasingly exasperated as she told the story. “This was the beginning of the reopening, and we had a line of takeout orders. Her husband stood at the doorway and was like, ‘She’s hungry! She needs her food right now!’”
…
“People who were already nice prior to the pandemic are super nice, and people who were a little bit difficult to deal with pre-pandemic are now completely just unbearable to even serve,” she said.
OK, I will admit that the arseholes might be a bit bigger after being copped up for such a long time, but are we really surprised by this? If anything, the pandemic brought us the Rise of the Karens so Regular Dickheads returning to its familiar migratory patterns after a forced social hibernation should not be surprise. Just like a bear, they woke up hungry but rather than food, they crave being assholes and they try to gorge themselves whenever possible.
And that is the way it was told to God and Country:
And in its website:
Alex Lasnik, a Cape Coral Floridian, apparently doesn’t like the current state of affairs in his state, and he isn’t shy about expressing his opinions.
Florida has gone dictatorship under DeathSantis! ZOMG!
Except there is more to the story because the headline was 100% Liberal clickbait.
The anti-Florida man is not alone. Except Cape Coral police say that Lasnik did more than just vent vocally.
Now, the 27-year-old Lasnik faces a third-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill charge, according to Lee County court records.
According to an arrest report, a Cape Coral officer responded to a call that came from a Marathon gas station on Prado Boulevard in Southwest Florida at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21.
A “disturbance involving weapons,” the caller said.
Hmmm, this is just a bit more than a simple disagreement that turned into a full attack against the God Given Right to Free Speech by the goons under orders of the Governor.
When the officer spoke to the caller, he was told Lasnik was arguing with the clerk inside the gas station and when he left the store “he was making vulgar statements about Florida and being extremely loud.” The caller, identified as “the victim” on the report, told Lasnik that he should go back to his state if he did not like Florida.
“This upset Mr. Lasnik,” the arrest affidavit said.
According to police, Lasnik reached inside his Mitsubish Mirage that had been parked near the victim and pulled out a small frame Glock 43X handgun, cocked it and pointed the firearm at the victim’s face.
You get the feeling the reporter is somewhat on the side of Lasnik thee way he writes this article by the use of “the victim” as if the clerk had it coming for disagreeing with our Hero, and I would not e surprised if that was the case.
Here is the same case as presented by a local TV station:
And this is why I will be joyfully degust an adult beverage the day the Miami Herald finally closes its doors and its offices in whatever strip mall is running from sport a “For Rent” sign.
