Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders: Bugliosi, Vincent, Gentry, Curt
I believe it is still the best account of the Tate-Labianca murders. Bugliosi was the D.A. assigned to the case and shares not only many insider tips and stories but provides an amazing background on the Manson Family and Charlie himself. I am still amazed at how close the Tate Murders came never to be solved for a sundry of reason.
If you are curious (especially the youngings) about this piece of American Murder History, give the book a chance. It is great summer reading
I’ll recommend Bugliosi’s “Reclaiming History” as well.
I’ll add it to the list thankya.
I’ve read this one, actually. I need to get a new copy, my old one disintegrated.
Interesting and disturbing.
Imagine if Gascon had been the DA instead of Bugliosi, Manson & Co. would have been charged with misdemeanor vandalism, and given a sentence of 90 days public service.
If you can afford it, get the first edition. In the first edition they had many of the actual crime scene photos at a quality that you could actually see what happened. In later editions some photos were excluded and others were degraded.
This is second hand from my lady who is very much a true crime fan. She had the first edition and when she moved out of her parents lost it. When she replaced it later the photos were different
