An extraordinary and moving speech from veteran MP Tom Tugendhat, with very harsh words for President Biden on Afghanistan

Nothing that he said was wrong and that is horrible.
Biden let down our allies.
The reputation of America has been destroyed.
For all the media bullshit that Trump was an embarrassment for the US on the international stage, it was Biden who actually sank America as a nation that could be trusted.
Halfway through I realized he is speaking with just a note card in his hand, one he looked at just once or twice in that 8 minute speech. I wonder if that’s common. I do remember that Churchill carefully drafted his speeches and then memorized them, suggesting he could not read from written out text — or simply that he didn’t want to dilute the impact by doing so.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a US member of Congress speaking in this manner; they always in every image I can recall read the paper on their lectern, usually in a monotone good only for putting the listener to sleep. What you see here would be a good pattern for everyone to follow. If you can’t speak like that, you probably didn’t believe in what you’re saying enough to be entitled to say it in the first place.
