Good News for Bloggers everywhere.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A federal appeals court ruled Friday that bloggers and the public have the same First Amendment protections as journalists when sued for defamation: If the issue is of public concern, plaintiffs have to prove negligence to win damages.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a new trial in a defamation lawsuit brought by an Oregon bankruptcy trustee against a Montana blogger who wrote online that the court-appointed trustee criminally mishandled a bankruptcy case.

The appeals court ruled that the trustee was not a public figure, which could have invoked an even higher standard of showing the writer acted with malice, but the issue was of public concern, so the negligence standard applied.

Gregg Leslie of the Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press said the ruling affirms what many have long argued: Standards set by a 1974 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Gertz v. Robert Welch Inc., apply to everyone, not just journalists.

Do you know how many people are pissed right now? #1: Journalists.

Tom gets more stuff from SHOT Show…. even for the Ladies.

First, a gun by Boberg:
20140117_15083420140117_1506343 fun items for you Miguel. The first is a pistol from BOBERG. currently available in nine millimeter and later this year to come out in 45 ACP. It has unique semi-automatic rotating breach and the fresh round is picked up as the slide is moving forward. The hammer is a hefty plate on the back of the slide. Minimal effort is needed to rack the slide, and because the breach does not tilt, rounds can be fed straight in. The maker claims that because of this, the gun can feed anything.   you will notice the attached photo showing the rifle ing. It is a  progressive rifle ing which the manufacturer states will reduce the field torque of the pistol. The rotation of the barrel unlocking counters the rotary torque off the bullet first engaging the rifling.you can find videos on YouTube showing the whole shebang in action.retail price is between 1000 and 1200 dollars.

Boberg has a great reputation for quality, that their guns are very accurate and always go bang. .  I just don’t see then hefty price as any enticement to buy a gun that does pretty much the same job as an upper $300’s like an Ruger LC9.  Back when nobody was doing pocket 9s (or of any caliber for that matter) you had only 2 companies in that particular niche: Boberg and Khar.

A 2 shot .380 palm pistol from BONDHUS is about cigarette pack sized.  Held between the first two fingers, with the thumb on either of the two triggers, it is all metal with plastic only on the “blast shields” (their term).  The pistol is carried cocked, with mechanical safeties, and the pistol has to be manipulated in a particular way to bring it to action. With practice it should be relatively easy. One cool thing: when the gun is “turned on”, so is the internal laser sight
Bondhus.  James Bondhus… (c’mon.  You were already thinking it too).
It does look like a James Bond gadget or a Rube Goldberg contraption. I’ll take Tom’s word for ease of use after some training….. but darn! That is one weird machine.

Not a new item, but getting lots of ink lately. As much is I dislike off body carry  , our women folk don’t often have much choice. Hence, the holster purse (which the voice recon heard as Hans, the whole strippers.).

A lot of folks make them but only if you a  look more like purses then holsters, or just bags, GUN TOTEN MAMA’S (available at cabelas & elsewhere) puts out a line of stylish purse holsters. This is not your grandmother’s purse. I can easily see a very young woman able to carry a very real gun in a very stylish purse. Straps are reinforced with steel cable to prevent being cut and hardware is sturdy.
As somebody who has shelled some monies to Gun Totem Mamas for the wife, I attest that they are great purse, well and durably crafted and makes SWMBO happy.
There was one more pic of Tom and his bride, but he looked awful and I don’t wanna risk this blog being shut down for gross and disgusting pics,

And s**t can go south that fast. (Graphic Content)

No gloomy  music, no smart remarks, no warning from the attacker….

It went from a simple car accident to a deadly shooting ultimately determined to be Suicide by Cop as it seems the attacker had mental health problems.

One minute and thirty-five seconds from the moment the officer went inside the house to shots fired. That is the equivalent of three TV commercials where the situation went from apparently stable to use of deadly force.

Just think about all the time we are distracted with menial things and we might not see something coming.

Shit happens that fast…faster sometimes. Prepare according.

CSGV: Name that Changing Tune.

After the failure of trying to brand the Insurrectionist label to Second Amendment advocates, the Cult Coalition to Stop Gun Rights Violence takes a chance now with the Anarchist label:
CSGV Anarchist Meme

But the true failure of this post is the sad attempt of rewriting history or at least modify it to serve their stupid and dangerous purposes.

They WANT to live in a society where there is no rule of law and their guns serve as judge, jury and executioner.

Which is why the basis of our gun culture is the Four Rules of Gun Safety and adherence to the Bill of Rights.

That is why George Zimmerman is a hero to them.

No, Zimmerman was a victim of unchecked  prosecution for political profit.  Again, we “anarchists” were demanding that the rule of law to be applied fairly, specially that part that reads “Innocent till proven Guilty.”

That stuff in the very first sentence of the Constitution (stating its purpose) about “establish[ing] Justice, insur[ing] domestic Tranquility, provid[ing] for the common defence, [and] promot[ing] the general Welfare”? They reject that contract entirely.

We already established that we want justice while CSGV has a track record of demanding the suspension of the rule of law  in order to bring us (insurrectionist/anarchists) into submission which is not the most proper way to insure Domestic Tranquility.  and most certainly, you cannot provide for the common defense unarmed which is what the Laddites want.

Let’s be clear: They are the modern day equivalent of radical Anti-Federalists: Men who fought against the ratification of our U.S. Constitution with everything they had.

And this is when you know Ladd or the Intern On Duty has never taken 5 minutes to read about how our Constitution came to be. And yes, please, call me Anti Federalist and bunch me up with such “traitors” of our nation as Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, George Mason, Robert Yates and James Monroe.  The Anti Federalists who indeed refused to ratify the Constitution unless some things of the utmost importance were added: The first amendments to our Constitution that we all know as The Bill Of Rights.

And maybe that is why they hate us so much as it was those Anti Federalists that made sure generations to come knew there were rights that could not be infringed and that were inherent to the individual and not granted (and eventually removed) by a magnanimous Central Government.

As sure as hell we ain’t the ones wearing red coats.

In India, Gun Control Activists are as Pro-Rape as their American Counterparts

Nirbheek gun

In his large office on Kanpur’s Kalpi Road, Abdul Hameed, the general manager of the state-run Indian Ordnance Factory, shows me Nirbheek, the factory’s tiniest gun.

“It’s small, it’s lightweight, it weighs only 500g [1.1lb], and it can easily fit into a lady’s purse.”

Hameed speaks enthusiastically about the .32-calibre revolver, praising the “special titanium alloy body, the pleasing-to-the-eye wooden handle”.

“The six-shot gun is easy to handle and it can hit its target accurately up to 15m [50ft],” he explains, pointing out the word “Nirbheek” engraved on the barrel.

Although men can buy the gun too, Nirbheek is being pitched as India’s “first gun for women” and to make it more attractive to them, it comes packaged in a deep maroon jewellery case.

via BBC News – A gun designed for Indian women.

Unless you have your head buried in the sand or only watching re-runs of Sponge Bob, you should be in the know that Indian women are being besieged by rapist. It has gotten so bad that those assholes managed to be caught by the public before the authorities, have ended their days on this planet in a very lasting and very painful death at the hands of enraged mobs.

The problem is such that even the government realizes it has to provide women with the means to defend yourself: Enter the Nirbheek gun manufactured by a governmental weapons facility.  By the description, not the best revolver in the world, but it beats harsh language, projectile vomiting and curry paste as means of self-defense.

Now, you would think that any help women could have to avoid being raped would be welcome by all members of society (save the rapist, of course) and you would be wrong.

Anti-gun activists, however, are appalled at the idea.

“I am horrified, shocked and angered,” says Binalakshmi Nepram, founder of the Women Gun Survivors Network in the north-eastern state of Manipur, who says it’s the government’s responsibility to ensure the security of its citizens.

“It’s ridiculous that the state is talking about arming women… The authorities saying, ‘Hey woman, come there’s a new gun for you which will make you safer,’ is an admission of failure on their part.”

Well you sweet sunshine, of course the government has failed.  And it will continue to fail because unless we institute mass lobotomies & castrations, there always be males that are sick bastards and get their rocks off by raping women. The only way to eliminate crime once and for all would be to kill every single human being on the planet which may bring a bit of repulse by everybody.

If you read the rest of the article, you will see more comments from that “gun safety activist” plus the obstacles that the average Indian has on obtaining a gun on a Country with tough laws.  A good example on what happens if we ever are browbeated into “having a conversation” and allow some “reasonable Gun Control laws” to rule the land.

Gun Control is the Blitzkrieg on the real War on Women.

Unicorn Guns: A list of interesting weapons.

From reddit/r/guns

In order to be considered a “Unicorn”, a gun must meet at least 3/5 of these *official* requirements: (1) No longer in production / no longer available in the United States / never went into production / prototype (2) Less than 1,000 made of the specific model, as it came from the factory / Less than 1,000 available in the United States (3) Cost at least $1,000 USD, current (2013) market price (4) Unique caliber(s) and/or mode(s) of operation (5) Historical, cultural, or political significance

It is a great list with several that I would not mind having if the funding was available like the Wildey and the Bren 10. Some guns did die a most necessary death.

Cook County, Il: The CWP Flood Has Just Begun.

Nearly 10,000 people in the Chicago area have applied to carry a concealed handgun in public, according to the first regional numbers released by the Illinois State Police.

Cook County received more concealed carry licenses applications than Dupage, Lake, McHenry and Kane counties combined since Jan. 5, when applications became available under the new law. As a state, Illinois received more than 23,000 applications.

via Demand for concealed carry keeps growing in suburbs – DailyHerald.com.

Almost 10,000 permit applications in about 2 weeks. For comparison purposes, Chicago PD has around 12,000 people in its roster. That means by the end of the month, there will be easily more who applied for a license than cops on the streets.

And then wait till the actual number of Licensees surpasses the number of cops.
