Video proof that qualified immunity needs to end
A cop flipped over a pregnant woman's car because she didn't pull over quick enough.
Not only is what she did not wrong, it's what you're supposed to do: turning on hazards to indicate you're complying and pulling over at the next safe place to do so…

The woman is suing state police, which seems quite justified.
Dashcam video from the trooper’s patrol car shows as soon as the blue lights go on, the driver, Nicole Harper, slows down and moves into the right lane.
Harper then turns on her hazards, which is what the Arkansas State Police “Driver License Study Guide” instructs drivers to do when there is not a safe place to stop.
Harper is suing state police, claiming the PIT maneuver on her vehicle was negligent and using excessive force.
Add to this that it is well known that PIT maneuvers are extremely dangerous when used on trucks/vans/SUVs because the high center of gravity of those vehicles can cause them to flip over.
This wasn’t a bank robbery suspect or a vehicle with a bunch of warrants out on it, this was incredibly dangerous for no reason other than the cop wanted to use his fancy police driving skills.
This cop needs to be sued personally, left destitute, then thrown into a dark hole for a very long time.
Instead, nothing will happen to him because qualified immunity is bullshit.

I once opened a speech by confessing to a crowd of Jews that I used to hate them. It was 2006 and I was a young native of Somalia who’d been elected to the Dutch Parliament. The American Jewish Committee was giving me its Moral Courage Award. I felt honored and humbled, but a little dishonest if I didn’t own up to my anti-Semitic past. So I told them how I’d learned to blame the Jews for everything.
Most Americans are familiar with the classic Western flavors of anti-Semitism: the Christian, European, white-supremacist and Communist types. But little attention has been paid to the special case of Muslim anti-Semitism. That is a pity because today it is anti-Semitism’s most zealous, most potent and most underestimated form.
I never heard the term “anti-Semitism” until I moved to the Netherlands in my 20s. But I had firsthand familiarity with its Muslim variety. As a child in Somalia, I was a passive consumer of anti-Semitism. Things would break, conflicts would arise, shortages would occur—and adults would blame it all on the Jews.
When I was a little girl, my mom often lost her temper with my brother, with the grocer or with a neighbor. She would scream or curse under her breath “Yahud!” followed by a description of the hostility, ignominy or despicable behavior of the subject of her wrath. It wasn’t just my mother; grown-ups around me exclaimed “Yahud!” the way Americans use the F-word. I was made to understand that Jews—Yahud—were all bad. No one took any trouble to build a rational framework around the idea—hardly necessary, since there were no Jews around. But it set the necessary foundation for the next phase of my development.
At 15 I became an Islamist by joining the Muslim Brotherhood. I began attending religious and civil-society events, where I received an education in the depth and breadth of Jewish villainy. This was done in two ways.
The first was theological. We were taught that the Jews betrayed our prophet Muhammad. Through Quranic verses (such as 7:166, 2:65 and 5:60), we learned that Allah had eternally condemned them, that they were not human but descendants of pigs and monkeys, that we should aspire to kill them wherever we found them. We were taught to pray: “Dear God, please destroy the Jews, the Zionists, the state of Israel. Amen.”
We were taught that the Jews occupied the Holy Land of Palestine. We were shown pictures of mutilated bodies, dead children, wailing widows and weeping orphans. Standing over them in military uniform were Israeli soldiers with large guns. We were told their killing of Palestinians was wanton, unprovoked and an expression of their hatred for Muslims.
The theological and the political stories were woven together, as in the Hamas charter: “The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: ‘The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The Stones and trees will say, “O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill me.” ’ . . . There is no solution for the Palestine question except through Jihad.”
That combination of narratives is the essence of Muslim anti-Semitism.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali overcame this mentality. She gives us insite into how Omar was raised and the persepctive she brings to Congress.
It’s clear that Rashida Tlaib has a similar persepctive from her closeness to the anti-Zionist Palestinian movment, and the fact that she palls around with Hamas and Hezbullah supporters.
The fact is, Muslim Antisemitism is driving the resurgence of Antisemitism in Europe. The majority of attacks on Jews, Jewish businesses, and Synagogues come from Muslims, often claiming to be in support of Palestine.
The same thing happened in Miami, New York, California, and other places in the United States just a few weeks ago, when Palestinian supoprters harassed and attacked Jews on American streets and the Democrats took a long time to respond and when they did, bullshitted with a condemntaion of “Antisemitism and Islamophobia” like it was even handed.
What Brooks said is 100% correct. We have seen it in Europe. We have seen it in American cities.
There is no reason to assume it won’t be like that across America in the future.
The only reason he’s catching flack for it is that he accurately diagnosed the problem.
About those Rubs and Seasonings
The one hole in my rack has been chicken. I hate chicken and I even hate touching the thing. But the missus loves chicken and since we got the air fryer, it has been less of a biblical punishment for me to get her some tasty drumsticks.
What I did not have was something in the sense of rub that she would like and other than salt/pepper/garlic combo, I had no idea what to get. I did a bit Googling and found Weber has its line of seasoning so I gave it a try. Roaster Garlic & Herb was one and Beer Can Chicken was the other.
Missus heartily approves both. In fact, I am now using BOTH at the same time and she just loves it.
So here is my gallery of spice/rub suspects: Weber for chicken, Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon for anything pork and LawDog-recommended Head Country for anything beef, specially if you grill it.
And since today I was denied parole for the 35th consecutive time, I’ll be using some of the above to celebrate the occasion with the missus.
No chicken.

A bidding war broke out this winter at a new subdivision north of Houston. But the prize this time was the entire subdivision, not just a single suburban house, illustrating the rise of big investors as a potent new force in the U.S. housing market.
D.R. Horton Inc. built 124 houses in Conroe, Texas, rented them out and then put the whole community, Amber Pines at Fosters Ridge, on the block. A Who’s Who of investors and home-rental firms flocked to the December sale. The winning $32 million bid came from an online property-investing platform, Fundrise LLC, which manages more than $1 billion on behalf of about 150,000 individuals.
The country’s most prolific home builder booked roughly twice what it typically makes selling houses to the middle class—an encouraging debut in the business of selling entire neighborhoods to investors.
From individuals with smartphones and a few thousand dollars to pensions and private-equity firms with billions, yield-chasing investors are snapping up single-family houses to rent out or flip. They are competing for houses with ordinary Americans, who are armed with the cheapest mortgage financing ever, and driving up home prices.
“You now have permanent capital competing with a young couple trying to buy a house,” said John Burns, whose eponymous real estate consulting firm estimates that in many of the nation’s top markets, roughly one in every five houses sold is bought by someone who never moves in. “That’s going to make U.S. housing permanently more expensive,” he said.
“Limited housing supply, low rates, a global reach for yield, and what we’re calling the institutionalization of real-estate investors has set the stage for another speculative investor-driven home price bubble,” the firm concluded.
Burns counted more than 200 companies and investment firms in the house hunt: computer-assisted flipper Opendoor Technologies Inc., money managers including J.P. Morgan Asset Management and BlackRock Inc., platforms such as Fundrise and Roofstock that buy and arrange for the management of rentals on behalf of individuals and builder LGI Homes Inc., which now reports wholesale home sales to bulk buyers in its quarterly results.
Those companies named above represent trillions of dollars in investment money.
BlackRock is a partner with the Federal Reserve. It is leveraging government money to buy houses as rental properties.
Homeownership has long been a bedrock means of establishing wealth for the middle-class.
You own your home, it builds equity, you have real property.
Now, the investment banks are going to make sure that the middle-class never owns a home again. We will be renters our entire lives, paying more for houses than ever before. Literally taking all the equity the middle-class has built up over generations and putting it in the pockets of Wall Street executives.
Sure, the people who own their homes now will cash out, but the new home market and all future buyers will be screwed.
This is the iretriduction of feudalism. The billionaire class will own all the land and the rest of us are just tenants, never owning property, just renting from our masters.
This should be banned immediately, but we all know it won’t because the politicians and elites hate the middle-class and are making too much money from this.
Before we are all returned to serfdom, it might be worth studying up on French history, starting about 1789.

When I became a fan of Emerson Lake and Palmer, I got to love their version of Jerusalem and it has been in my tapes/CDs/Stream ever since.
This has also become a favorite version: Last Night of the Proms 2012 just because the people are so deeply into it is a joy to hear the collective soul behind the singing.
Fast forward to 2020 and we are suddenly under the thumb of an overblown crisis imposing truly insane rules which make a mockery of things.
This is just pitiful, no matter how outstanding the singers are. It would have been better served if they put up a sign saying “We will return when our traditional chorus is back.”
Stupid Voting has Consequences.
Daniel Ortega made a dumb mistake years ago when he was the leader of the Sandinistas and ruler of Nicaragua: He allowed for free elections and got sacked by Violeta Chamorro, the widow of Newspaper Editor Pedro Joaquin Chamorro who was murdered by the Somoza regime toppled by the Sandinistas.
The Sandinistas did a crappy job as government (Surprising no one) and that is why they lost. But they were very good at selling themselves again, promising all kinds of shit to people who actually voted them back in power in 2007 and has been there ever since and plans not to leave anytime soon. Just like his political buddy Hugo Chavez, he uses all the means of government to suppress opposition under a thin veneer of legality. And allow me to repeat myself: He is not going anywhere soon unless cancer also decides to pay him a visit.
Voting stupid carries consequences. Specially when you don’t have the means to remove bad government.
