  1. On a guess, the prosecutor is throwing as much as possible in hopes of forcing a plea deal. And, of course, to make him- or herself look good in the Democrat circus tent spotlights.

Not that either of those are stunningly original thoughts.

On another note, if you use Firefox on your phone, consider disabling auto update until you can check it out. The newest release hit my tablet and it’s gawdawful; totally destroyed my workflow and is far less convenient to use.

  2. Its important to remember the old saying that a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich, and according to a defense attorney I talked to, its about an 80% chance on a conviction of said ham sandwich without the right defense. This was a guy who had successfully defended a prior convicted murderer in a obvious self defense case. He said when the case was over the jury was mad they even had to sit through the case but that didn’t stop the DA from getting an indictment.

    1. The original saying is that a good prosecutor can convince a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich for murder….Fortunately the boy is seeing help stepping up from some high powered lawyers….SOME lawyers are already seeing this boy is getting a railroad job done on him and that winning him a not guilty on all charges is going to help their business.

  3. Let’s count the mistakes: Lake County, Wisconsin, is nowhere near where this happened; the kid lived and was arrested in Lake County, Illinois, and the shootings occurred in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. My bet would be that this hearing is an extradition hearing held in Lake County, Illinois, but nowhere does the article say that. There’s no “Lake County Assistant DA” involved; the charges were undoubtedly drawn up by the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lake County prosecutor is a State’s Attorney, not a “DA.”
If the writer here can’t get basic geographical and legal facts right, how much confidence do you have in the rest of the story?

  4. On of the things I noted is that this could be a good thing. What are the chances of them getting murder 1? Not high when all the video evidence.

On the other hand, if they charged him with manslaughter or some lower level could the attorney get 12 people to agree he was guilty?

Three only charge I can find that might be credible is open carrying a rifle.

I have no idea where they are coming up with illegal rifle.
