This is callus cruelty. It serves no purpose to stop the spread of the virus.
The sons are going to comfort their mother as soon as they are away from the funeral home and visit her at her home or sit next to her in the car on the drive there. But at that moment during the service, two sons comforting their mother is just too much love and human connection in this “new normal” where hope and joy spread the COVID miasma and the only prophylactic is living in isolated misery.
You cannot mourn your husband’s and father’s death together seems like the sort of punishment a family in North Korea or Stalinist Russia would have been told following the execution of a political dissident. Not the sort of thing that would happen in country like the UK, or the US for that matter, but here we are.
My brother and I would have raced to punch out that stooge.
People need to start replying to inhumane treatment like this with a nice hearty “fuck you” or “fuck off”. Maybe some might prefer a little bit more civil phrasing but it needs to be said either way.
No, I think ‘fuck off’ is an appropriate response.
Agree totally. 100%. Fuck off is the minimum amount of polite that should be used. It gets more offensive/confrontational after that.
Personally, I think the more people who start fighting back against this stupidity, the faster it will go away. Meek compliance is only going to amplify this crap.
The world is full of things that can, and will kill you. Deal with it. If you are so terrified of catching COVID, stay the F home. It is not my responsibility ensure you do not get sick. It’s your’s/
Went to a funeral 2 weeks back. Small gathering, maybe 30 people, mostly family, outdoors followed by reception inside. No masks. Hugging, hand shakes, people gathered together in groups talking.
The preacher mentioned masks several times but finally gave up once he realized no one was listening. They even did that thing where the eulogy was transmitted over short-range AM band so you could sit in your car and listen. Only one person did that, mostly because of being crippled and didn’t want to unload his wheelchair. Otherwise no one cared about covid. We’ve had enough.
