Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg ruled that the “good and substantial reason” requirement that the State of Maryland demanded to issue a cocealed weapons permit was unconstitutional.

But if the injury was not enough, the “insult” was even worse. After decades of the Antis demanding that the Militia part of the Second Amendment be used to determine gun right cases, it finally happened:

“In addition to self-defense, the (Second Amendment) right was also understood to allow for militia membership and hunting. To secure these rights, the Second Amendment’s protections must extend beyond the home: neither hunting nor militia training is a household activity, and ‘self-defense has to take place wherever (a) person happens to be,”

And that, apparently was not the application they were looking for and they are pissed!

Ouchie. That has to hurt.

  1. Isn’t it lovely when the courts administer a dope slap to the gun grabbers? This is happening more and more. Add in the fact that many legislatures, state and Federal, are expanding gun rights, and things are looking up. Keep the fight going!

  2. They are so daft. Actually, that is too kind.

The quote starts off talking about self-defense outside the home, but clarifies later that the 2A also protects militia membership and hunting. All they can do is say we don’t belong to militias and we are not duck hunting on Main Street.

They cannot even remember the beginning of a short quote. We are dealing with total idiots with pathetic comprehension and hopeless ideologues. And we’re supposed to listen to their ideas for “reasonable” restrictions on our God-given rights? No wonder every gun control law can be shown to be ineffectual.

    1. They know, it’s a strawman. Obviously we’re not hunting on Main st, which is why they choose to attack that, it’s easy for them to disregard it (and us) as being silly. They just can’t bring themselves to admit it’s about self defense first and foremost.

      1. Agreed. I would add that the ability to oppose and replace a tyrannical government is the penultimate use of our firearms.

        Likely? No.
Possibly needed sometime in the future? It’s priceless then.

I posit that our vast ownership of firearms has insured that we have had the peaceful transition of power after elections for hundreds of years (maybe not counting our Civil War).

That’s patriotic talk, not insurrectionist craziness. Just ask George Washington and his colleagues.

  3. But just to clarify, when a state actually does establish a ‘well-regulated militia’, Ladd then goes on to squeal about ‘insurrectionists’ and how it’s filled w/ racist, anti-gov’t white guys.
