Why save it?
“I’m sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly’s actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.”
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker in January 2006 after a Campus Carry measure was defeated in the Virginia Assembly. Seng-Hui-Cho proved Mr. Hincker’s statement was deadly wrong on January 16, 2007.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it“
George Santayana
All about “feeling safe” rather than “being safe”
Here is to hoping the time to failure on this idiotic circle-jerk is longer than in Virginia… or that a student decides that his personal safety is more important than obeying an idiotic law and is able to stop a spree shooter before he gets too far…
They are ridiculously scared of the older students (those eligible to have a CCW) who carry everywhere, except on campus now. Do they really think that these same older students will snap as soon as they pass through the magical gun-proof energy force-field that surrounds each campus with those little crossed out gun symbols?
Should we just leave our self-defense to the campus police? Good luck with that. Make sure that your will is up to date.
I especially chaffed at C.H.’s comments about the decency and morality of the Senator supporting the bill and the insane and dangerous NRA. Seems to me that the really immoral action is preventing law-abiding citizens from carrying concealed to stop spree shooters, rapists, robbers, and so on. Sorry, but clearly his moral compass is broken or missing. I’d go toe-to-toe with him on ethics/morality any day and he would leave the room crying.
