Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway, a Democrat (color me surprised) tries to grandstand by asking the  NRA not to have the Annual Meeting in his city

“It is a tough call when you ask the NRA to reconsider coming to Dallas. But it is putting all citizens first and getting them to come to the table and elected officials to come to the table and to address this madness now,” said Caraway.

Dallas Mayor Pro Tem urges NRA to find a new home for their convention

You gotta love the stupid. Not only to deny his city with the great income that the NRA AM brings but also the descent in crime for that weekend. Democrat politicians apparently have not figured out what the common criminal has: There is no reward in going to screw with a bunch of armed people who know how to shoot.

  1. This “virtue signaling” nonsense has got to stop.
It has become the herd mentality writ large…
It reminds me of the scene in Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian,” where an entire crowd responds, in unison, “Yes! We must think for ourselves!”

  2. Dallas is infested with liberal Democrat, like Houston and Austin. I am surprised NRA picked it over Fort Worth. Tarrant County (FW) hasn’t elected a Democrat to a County-wide office in 27 years.

  3. If I were the NRA (in the “had power to change this” sense, not the “I’m the NRA” sense) I’d say that not only am I moving my convention, you’ll never get a dime from us again.

The problem is that in late February, it’s not possible to move an early May convention of that size. Thousands of people and hundreds of companies already have reservations and travel plans. Plus, it would be essentially impossible to find a suitable venue in time anyway even if they wanted to move to another place.

They could cancel it, and refund fees to vendors, but that’s not really good for the NRA, either.

All you can do is hold the convention and say, “BFYTW”.
