COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — On the one year anniversary of DeVon Bailey’s death, more than 50 protestors marched to the home of one of the Colorado Springs police officers involved in the shooting. They were calling for him to be fired.
On Tuesday, KRDO heard from neighbors who witnessed it all and quickly found themselves involved, even if they did not want to be.
One neighbor, Bobby Cox, said “It was supposed to be a peaceful march and it seemed to be peaceful.”
Neighbors react to De’Von Bailey protest in their neighborhood
They were peaceful in the sense that they could not get people to take the bait. It may have been peaceful in the sense of no visible property damage or physical attacks, but they were loud and foul-mouthed and itching for a confrontation.
In the link above, you can see the video unedited of the march and there was some interesting things I observed. As usual, the problem was the protesters blocking the streets and impeding traffic. Their solution was to place armed “security” in front of the truck and even using a car to block the street.
The “Low Ready” position of the idiot on the extreme left puts him about one second away from harm. It was an unnecessary posture since the truck was at full stop and the driver was engaged in discussion people next to his door.
This was the rest of the ‘team” standing in front of the grey truck. There are 2 more armed individuals floating around.
The car was parked properly, but the moment the truck showed up, they moved it to block the street.
Now this gentleman took exception that the reporter was recording the incident with the gray truck and ordered the cameraman to “Keep the camera there” while pointing at the thickest part of the crowd some distance down the street.
And Player Two enters the game: The blue truck who was not in the mood to take crap. for about a minute things got tense, but a van from the local PD showed up and ordered people to move to the sidewalks and let the trucks go by.
Then the mob decides it would be a good idea to follow blue truck home since it parked about 50 yards away.
They approach the house. The driver is within his property leaning against the truck and the mob’s chanting goes from “No Justice, No Peace…something something racist USA” to “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” because:
Oh yeah, it seems them suburban people dare to have guns! Even the “Security” team appeared a bit flustered that the man was not impressed by their own gear. The mob did not stay long and continue to walk, apparently trying to go back to where they started the rally. They chanted the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” mantra three more times and I assume it was because they saw other homeowners outside with guns and because the last time they chanted, this gentleman was standing outside his home entrance.
Once again, he was not impressed by the “security team” of the protesters, specially after one of them started to cascade a continuous streams of insults to the gentleman and including the following threat:
“You are gonna be judged too and under our rules”
I hope the protesters took away the two major lessons from this march: 1) The suburban neighbors do not give a damn about your cause if you try to shove it down their throats. In fact, they may resent your ass. and 2) You saw guns and may have worried some, but you should be scared about the guns you did not see and the people behind them.
The people who have been shooting and hunting for several decades are less than impressed when you show up with their AR rifle you bought last year. You raise shit and they will locate a well placed shot in your noggin and go back to watch Wheel of Fortune.
Try that shit in the country and see what happens…
If I’d had the extra cash when this was for sale, I would have bought it for the novelty. I kind of wish I had, now:

Matt Bracken has commented that rural shenanigan’s ought to end “well”. These are folks who get up before dawn, to sit all day in a tree, 30 feet in the air, simply so they can shoot and kill a 200 pound mammal.
Apply your own parallels.
This reminds me … I need to get a new AR build – 6.5 Grendel – to the range and zero it.
Some fun news … Mrs. B and her friend both hit the 200-yard gong for the first time, on our most recent range trip. *BANG* … pause … Ding! followed by big grins!
TDW-Mark II received, for *MY*! Birthday, a Springfield Hellcat.
Range day, tomorrow!
And, verify zero on EDC Kalishnikov.
Antifa friendly, on *SOoo* many levels!
Time for Mr. 7mm Rem Mag to come out.
28 inch barrel, 175 gr bullet at 3,100 fps.
Fuck whatever you have in that plate carrier, im.gling through it.
I’m watching the full video on my lunchbreak and so far my favorite part has been the protesters complaining that the cops are not arresting the driver for trying to get home.
I will tell you, as someone who has gone to a BLM protest and wound up behind enemy lines, so to speak, that they have hidden guns, too. There are some in vehicles who never get out of them. I’ll just figure they are controllers and security.
That day, I was supposed to meet up with a bunch of my fellow townsfolk to make sure the “peaceful protesters” stayed that way. Only, myself and my buddy showed up on the wrong side of the road. Since we were parked under a couple nice shade trees, we decided to stay put and see what happened. It was quite eye opening – not watching the idiot protestors, but watching what was going on behind them, and who was there – and especially, who never got out of their vehicles that had either no license plate, or out of state plates.
If this happens to someone, Don’t Go Home.
Drive afew hundred yards and stop, hopefully they follow, rinse repeat as many times as need be.
You’ll get there later and be better for it.
Don’t do it on there terms.
Good tactic, repeatedly stopping. Led them on a merry chase. Call the police. You are being harassed. They are attempting to intimidate you. You have reason to be scared, and your call should demonstrate that fact.
Remember first one to 911 is considered the victim.
Start getting pictures of them. Several pictures at different stops, showing they keep following you. Demand the police get names and addresses so you can request a protection order. They do not live there, they have no reason to be in the neighborhood.
If they show up again, get pictures and/or video. Complain to the police.
The guy armed with the shotgun doesn’t have any armor in that carrier.
The two carrying ARs only have fold down sights that are folded down.
They are carrying for intimidation, not shooting. If they are engaged at anything beyond 50 feet, they are not going to be too accurate.
What makes them so dangerous is that they are going to spray the area with indiscriminate fire. Note that one of them is fingering the trigger.
What worries me the most is how the Antifa folks have been ratcheting up the violence. We went from rocks, frozen water bottles, and melee weapons to laser pointers, then firearms. Soon, we will transition from isolated attacks to full on combat. Be ready.
