Republican lawmakers in Tallahassee are now showing strong signs of support for the unlicensed carry of concealed handguns by law-abiding Floridians, according to sources familiar with the discussions. However, these same lawmakers strongly oppose the open carry of handguns or other weapons.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has promised to sign a constitutional carry bill if the Republican-controlled state legislature can get one to his desk, and now it appears as though we are closer than we have ever been before.
While this is definitely a step in the right direction and might be seen by some as cause to celebrate — finally — it is not the “Gold Standard” of constitutional carry seen in other states, which allow their law-abiding citizens to carry firearms openly or concealed without a permit or license. In other words, these states allow their citizens to decide for themselves how to exercise their constitutional rights.

The gun laws’ history in Florida has been a constant war of attrition. We (I still consider myself a Floridian) have made slow inroads, but made them even when the Media and Liberal strongholds were against. It was only when the Chest Thumpers appeared in our mist that the forward movement was stopped. Wethere we liked it or not, we faced a huge PR campaign against us. The bombardment tagging us as dangerous and killers was constant, so we had to fight it and the Chest Thumpers parading themselves fishing with rifles and kitted like they were going to war played into the image the Gun Control cabal was good at advertising.
It is the old question: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at the time.
Get Constitutional Carry and then keep moving. Don’t get greedy and assure the win.
And just because you won’t get OC this time, do not throw a tantrum and crap on Constitutional Carry. Every time we lose because we act like toddlers, the enemy score propaganda victories.
Makes you wonder if the chest thimpers are actually liberals play acting or paid by liberals to cause issues…. We got Constitutional carry here in Maine in 2014 I think.
Worth pointing out also that the incremental strategy has worked quite well for Progressives in terms of getting gun control laws on the books.
That’s a fact, demoncrats/libtards/fascists/communists NEVER QUIT. They will take the smallest bite they can get, but they will always come back for more/bigger bites next time. Normal people always fuck up and say, we can allow them this little bite to make the morons happy, but evil is never happy or satisfied until they are in control and can clean out the gene pool to suit their aims.
Never really cared for open carry, unless I’m out in the boonies. Being old, fat, and slow, I prefer my EDC to be a surprise if the world turns brown.
Constitutional Carry is such a strong advance and tips the balance in our favor for many reasons.
Bad police in states that link your CCW permit to your cars license plates will be more jumpy when they realize EVERYONE could be carrying which means a bigger chance at the right person at the right time getting them sued or removed from the force in a lawsuit.
People who couldn’t get a permit due to bias on the part of the department or prohibitive licensing/training requirements? Its just a pure win.
I’ll be the first person on the barricade waving the 2A flag all gun laws are infringements but I am also a realist.
As you said Miguel we don’t win by strapping on the full battle rattle out in the streets and go scaring the horses. Unfortunately it more similar to earning privilege’s as a child since we’ve lost control of our government. You display your maturity and responsibility to meet your parents standards. A bad analogy as government is certainly not our parent but until we can return rule to the people and ensure that public servants are once again indeed servants we gots to play with the cards we were dealt.

I just learned that the People’s Republic of MA does that AND the officer can get a list of what the Commonwealth believes that you own.
