And again, another cell Phone Emergency Alert just a couple of minutes ago:
I had the notion that these messages were supposed to be for immediate emergencies and not repeat the same warning we hear every ten minutes in TV.
Whoever was put in charge of the Emergency Messaging needs to be sent to a Cathedral tower and enjoy the ringing of the bells for 24 hours.
That’s about as bad as the “This is a test of the emergency broadcast system” alerts just as I am dropping off to a well earned nap in front of the TV. Just what are they testing? I’m not going to call them and tell them I got the message. If I didn’t get the alert how the hell would I know?
On my Android phone, I can disable any and all emergency messages except for the Presidential Alerts. I believe iPhones have similar provisions.
(Learned this when I kept getting Amber Alerts from a city 4 hours’ drive away from where I lived … usually at 3am +/- 2 hours.)
Google how to turn them off on your model of phone. Its one of the first things I do with a new phone.
