Here are some headlines.
From New York:
From Washington State:
Washington to allow ‘vaccinated sections,’ increasing capacity at sports arenas and other venues
In California, a premium ‘vaccinated section’ is available for fully vaccinated people at all Golden State Warriors games.
This is the dumbest, most anti-science, counter-productive idea in the history of vaccination initiatives.
This, more than anything else, makes it crystal clear that these measures have nothing to do with public health and everything to do with forcing compliance with government mandates.
The studies out of Isreal show that vaccinated people have about a 1 in a million chance of getting or transmitting the virus after the vaccine.
The whole principle of mass vaccination and herd immunity is that the vaccine keeps a virus from spreading because a person who has the virus has a low chance of coming in contact with other susceptible people because the majority of people around them are vaccinated.
The vaccine acts as a firebreak between the infected.
Creating vaccinated and un-vaccinated sections puts all the susceptible people together and moves the human firebreaks to another section of the stadium.
No wonder California burns down every year, they don’t know how firebreaks work.
This is truly the dumbest fucking policy imaginable.
These governors are the worst, stupidest, most awful fucking state managers possible.
1) Sit in “vaccinated section”.
2) Loudly call for cheers for Trump for Operation Warp Speed.
3) Profit?
Like I’ve been saying: the politicians are basically claiming that so long as there’s one filthy unvaccinated person in the world, he’ll manage to infect all the righteously vaccinated.
I increasingly expect to see posters depicting red-state deplorables as disease-bearing vermin. I’m sure you’re familiar with the template.
I plan on being that last unvaxxed guy
And here I was thinking that the headline was satire….
You are right, of course
What’s so damned hard to understand about herd immunity?
Oh, wait….they’re leftists
Never mind….
A modest proposal:
1) Unless you can prove yourself and your family are vaccinated, you must wear a badge identifying yourself as a “non-vaxer” with some kind of clever logo.
2) “Non-vaxers” must wear masks at all times, some public areas, and private businesses will be labeled “Non-vaxers verboten”.
3) “Non-vaxers” will not be permitted work in any job that requires contact with normal people.
4) Random checks will be performed to insure “Non-vaxers” are wearing their badges.
5) Those who refuse to comply will forcibly “resettled” in “isolation camps” to “protect” the normal (vaccinated) population.
Are your proposals before, or after the shootout?
Before. Won’t be many
gestapoenforcers left after. It’s never been about the science
Global warming is an established scientific fact!
We have to follow the science!
(But only if it comports with our PC beliefs.)
…and only if approved by union bosses and whoever else controls the Democrat party swamp dwellers.
“The studies out of Isreal show that vaccinated people have about a 1 in a million chance of getting or transmitting the virus after the vaccine.”
I think that percentage is incorrect. Way too low. Read an article about two weeks ago about how 7,157 fully vaccinated individuals tested positive for the COVID virus across the US. It took about 12 paragraphs before the article mentioned that 93M individuals were fully vaccinated in the US.
Did a bit of math. Had to put the calc into scientific notation to get all the zeros in. And, the odds of you catching the WhuFlu after vaccination is 0.000000078%
Add to that the lack of any documented proof that an asymptomatic person actually spread the disease, and I am going to say these moves are idiotic.
Besides, won’t concentrating the unvaccinated into a group result in a “superspreader” event?
“Besides, won’t concentrating the unvaccinated into a group result in a “superspreader” event?”
Maybe that’s the idea?
I doubt that “tests positive”=”has disease”.
The medical term, to use in considering this sort of question, is “pre test probability”.
Creating vaccinated and un-vaccinated sections puts all the susceptible people together and moves the human firebreaks to another section of the stadium.
Feature, not bug.
Remove the “firebreaks” and put all the non-vaxxed people together, and HOPE that some are infected and spread it to as many as possible.
Then declare it a “super-spreader event”, blame it on non-vaxxed “white supremacist anti-science conservatives”, tighten restrictions on businesses and social interactions, and increase government power and control.
It’s not that California doesn’t understand firebreaks. They do. They find them inconvenient checks to government power and prevent their use (and that includes during actual wildfires).
To add, it’s not about the science. It’s never been about the science. It is and always has been about control.
Look at what Oregon’s governor and her team are demanding.
The overarching philosophy seems to be, “If the new scientific findings support more restrictions, we’ll enact more restrictions. If the new findings support loosening restrictions, we won’t publish them; we’ll stick with the old findings.”
They are no longer following CDC guidelines or recommendations unless it means they can continue extending the crisis and tighten controls. If CDC recommendations are to allow people out and let businesses open, they just don’t acknowledge that recommendation ever came down.
And the local media is on board; the CDC hardly gets mentioned any more. The only reason my wife and I know the CDC has loosened their recommendations is because we get national and out-of-state news.
“They are no longer following CDC guidelines or recommendations unless it means they can continue extending the crisis and tighten controls.”
When you allow a politician to break the law in a crisis, politicians will create (extend) a crisis in order to break the law.
Indeed.
That she’s doing this is no surprise; her totalitarian streak was subtly revealed early on and COVID was just an excuse to let it out.
What really concerns me is the number of citizens who see her as a hero(ine) for “keeping us safe”, as they gladly give up their freedoms…
… and businesses…
… and jobs…
… and incomes…
… and health…
… and friends…
… and family.
All for an illusion of safety from an invisible virus that all of those “safety” measures has neither slowed nor stopped.
And they’ll be first to give up the next thing deemed “dangerous”, too.
That’s what bothers me.
