To European cops, guns are primarily a fashion accessory.
Also the attacker used a knife you are not allowed to carry in public in a “knife free zone” for added not-allowed-to-carryness during a public event which is also “no knifes allowed” – he broke THREE layers of “no knives allowed” without even brandishing his knife.
And the first thing the (leftist) secretary of public peace (Innenministerin) cries about? We need more laws against knifes and guns!
(some states in Germany have “knife free zones” in cities where you cannot carry a knife except for some models with blades shorter than 4cm – this was in response to a spike in knife related violence by… well, you can guess which group of people. Interestingly enough gun owners are not subject to these “knife free zones” as they are considered lawful. Which is surprising considering the repeated pushes to further disarm us.
Bavaria does not have “knife free zones” as some knifes are considered “Kulturgut” and are part of the traditional Bavarian dress – think Lederhosen)
