Somebody is either very optimistic or Oakland is a very expensive shithole
Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

Probably the latter — that area’s real estate is way overheated. The cost is based on the plot, not the house.
….And…..?
Both, I’d guess. The property sold less than a year ago (June 20, 2019) for $590k.
This might be a stretch, though, even if you do a one-wall-standing teardown (avoids some restrictions that way). I’ve seen similar things in the CA market in years past, any bets that the house is missing all metal piping and all wiring? My guess this is going to be right over the boundary of the amount of hassle people are willing to go through, given what else looks available in the area.
The reason Blue Origin came to Huntsville was the SpaceX couldn’t recruit people from NASA to move to California because the cost of living was way too high.
The same size house (in better condition) in Alabama is $84K.

“FIXER CONTRACTOR NEEDED THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART”
ROFL!
Combination of both, as this one is only 45k more;

That’s more than twice the price of a similar house in the expensive parts of Oregon, move in ready. No wonder people are leaving, I just want them to move to Boulder.
