Yesterday, Miguel wrote a post about a meme video which was a modification of a fight scene from Kingsmen to feature Trump decimating his critics.
California Congressman, Democratic Presidential nominee failure, and all-around jackass, Eric “Douche Nukem” Swalwell didn’t take to kindly to the video.
For a man who joked about nuking Omaha to get gun owners who refused to comply with his mandatory gun buyback, he wasn’t tolerant of pro-Trump mass murder jokes.
The #TrumpVideo isn’t “a joke.” It isn’t “owning the libs.” It’s @POTUS expressing deep, abiding hatred for a constitutionally protected free press & any who criticize him- what you’d expect from an insecure, volatile dictator. It could radicalize unbalanced people to lash out.

That potential for violence is why I introduced the Journalist Protection Act, to make a federal crime of certain physical attacks on those reporting news. We must counter @realDonaldTrump‘s crude irresponsibility & show everyone that violence is always unacceptable. #TrumpVideo

It is this part that is truly disturbing.
He wants to make Journalists a protected class.
Of course, you know what that means. He gets to decide who is a journalist and what is journalism.
Remember the guy that called Chris Cuomo “Fredo” causing Cuomo to turn into a punk?
That is going to be a federal hate crime.
Remember when Antifa attacked Andy Ngo and gave him a brain bleed for reporting on their cement milkshakes?
The media decided that Ngo is a white supremacist, propagandist, agitator so attacks on him will be ignored or justified.
Of course, there has not been a single attack on a Left-leaning journalist by a Republican that I can find, but in the world of the aggrieved victims, insults are violence.
Swalwell’s bill will only serve to protect his party’s favored propagandists from “threatening” memes while allowing Antifa to beat the piss out of “alternative” and “non-traditional” news that are either neutral or on the Right because those won’t be protected class journalists.
Douche Nukem apparently thinks Trump personally made the video or approved of it. He also has no GD concept of free speech.
crawford beat me to it.
Does Swal(low)well have evidence that Trump or his people made the video, and released it intending for it to be a threat of violence against so-called “journalists”?
If so, present that evidence.
If not, then this is a baseless accusation.
I’d also note — in regards to Trump’s supposed “abiding hatred for a constitutionally protected free press & any who criticize him” — that when potential scandals broke involving the Obama administration, Obama (“the most transparent administration in history”) exerted executive privilege, circled the wagons, obfuscated, redirected, and lied.
When a potential scandal broke involving the Trump administration, Trump released all relevant documents and declassified records, giving journalists and naysayers full access to the truth.
Y’know, because he hates the free press and his critics. Or something.
It was fun listening to the disappointment over the transcript release, followed by the rationalizations that it wasn’t an accurate transcript because it was partly translated from Russian.
