So this was their final huzza.
The sizable donation?
He’ll present the group with a check for $15,000.
“We’ll present it during a special celebration at the restaurant on Mother’s Day at 3 pm,” Groves says. “I put a significant amount of personal money into it, but the rest came from patrons of the restaurant as well as people calling us from South America, Asia, from countries all around the world.”
Dallas restaurant targeted by NRA writes fat check for gun reform group
I am sorry to say that the amount won’t be enough to pay for the armed security taking care of the event.
What I find funny about Mr. Groves is that although he does not like Gun People, he likes our money. I mean if he was such a stalwart for “common sense regulation” he would not allow people carrying into his establishment, right? Yet, he does not have a 30-06 sign posted at the door as required by Texas law.
Oh hell, screw him. He is just a funny anecdote for this year’s NRA Annual Meeting.
Well said Sir..screw him. I bet close to ALL of it came from him.
Whatever.
“but the rest came from patrons of the restaurant as well as people calling us from South America, Asia, from countries all around the world.”
RUSSIAN COLLUSION!!!
All self-respecting Texans should have that restaurant on a permanent boycott list.
Bankruptcy will be fun for him.
I wouldn’t call it the coda. More like the final fanfare before the coda, a boasting of “didn’t hurt”.
Give it about 3-6 months, and we’ll see a quiet update of how they’ve gone out of business.
$15,000 for a word of mouth national advertising campaign. That was not much money for the impact. Except it is likely a negative impact.
Is there anyone reading the blog from the Dallas area that could keep us apprised of Ellens fate? Will it make it through the Summer? Will it make it through the January-February doldrums next year?
“…restaurant targeted by NRA…”? Not exactly. The correct headline would be “restaurant that targeted the NRA and received the backlash it asked for”. But that would demand honesty from the “reporter”…
So earlier the owner of that joint tried to pretend that he meant “reasonable gun regulations” NOT as a codeword for “wholesale confiscation” but as plain English terminology. It was pretty likely at the time that he was lying.
Now we know he was indeed lying. Giving $15k to one of the top astroturf gun ban outfits clearly means he was part of the enemy all along, and that all his claims to the contrary were just the typical lies we know to expect from that crowd.
