Attorney General Eric Holder said gun tracking bracelets are something the Justice Department (DOJ) wants to “explore” as part of its gun control efforts.
When discussing gun violence prevention programs within the DOJ, Holder told a House appropriations subcommittee on Friday that his agency is looking into technological innovations.
“I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe,” he said.
Holder: We want to explore gun tracking bracelets
Hmmm.. he wants to tag gun owners with a device that is visible to others. For starters, it kinda screws with the whole concept of Concealed Carry and the advantage we get against attackers. But it also does other things:
It identifies us as a separate group of people. We would be wearing the equivalent of a sign saying “Gun here!” I am sure this would make “Stop & frisk” legally easier since there is no doubt we are carrying a gun. And once stopped and frisked we would have to go through the whole showing of a permits, FOID (where applicable), the cops checking to see if the gun is stolen…you know, being treated like a felon. It would also makes us targets of criminals looking to get a gun…yes, sorry, nobody is aware enough to avoid an ambush and survive it 100% of the time.
And with the Opposition declaring their undying hate for Gun owners and multiple expressions of hate towards us, I can see them following a gun owner to their house of place of business and do the brick through the window and occasional arson because, you know, we are too dangerous! Our kids ridiculed in school and tagged as weirdos… you know the whole story.
But I have to say something for this new technology: It is more advanced than a Yellow Star on your lapel or in an armband and a serial number tattooed in your arm.
I have a number of suggestions that would really drive down violent crime, but I will refrain from stating them. I will, however, say that perhaps tagging and tracking politicians would be a major start.
HA!
The utter incompetence of this man still continues to amaze me. From a pure Machivellian political standpoint, this is something you do not do, especially with a big midterm coming up.
-You give your opponets a huge issue to run against
-By using an EO, you set up a potential batch of laws (state and federal) to outlaw this tech
-Lame duck regulations tend to hurt your party, long term.
Nothing could go wrong with this technology. There would be no issues with dead batteries, government tracking, remote disabling, hacking, and interference…oh wait. I get it now, that’s the point.
How about this Eric Holder? You have the capital police use them first and if no one terminates your sorry ass, I’ll give it due consideration.
I think David Codrea put it best today: “There are those who believe that until Eric Holder comes clean on exactly what he knew and when he knew it about Operation Fast and Furious, … the bracelets he ought to be most concerned about are the dumb kind, that don’t recognize their user and that operate with a key.”
Oh. Hell. No. My Polish relatives (who mysteriously disappeared after the fall of 1939. . . ) would never forgive me if I complied.
Government kill switch in the wristbands. NO effing way..
WOW, All I can say is lets VOTE, and vote in a president who would never get these type of people in his, or her cabinet, I am an Idiot, I knew not to vote for this certain President, I knew this type of stuff would happen. I hope people who are smarter than me, realize the big mistake when they voted for this President. Remember that oldies song “we wont be fooled again”. Some people were twice fooled, lets not make it three strikes your out.
VOTE!!
Eric Holder, of all People, who abhor’s profiling, and telling us that African Americans are more likely to be stopped and detained because of this, as well as telling us that those who are against Pres. Obama are racists, is he serious. Making carry permit people wear a bracelet is not only profiling, but racist, pure and simple. The Hypocrisy that is occurring right now, with our leaders, is so blatant, I guess they must follow Mr. Grubber’s contention that all Americans are stupid. Thanks to web sites like this they are finding out that is not so!
