J. Kb. sent me this one from The Texas Tribune.

More than two dozen Texas City nursing home residents who have tested positive for the new coronavirus are being treated with hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug that President Donald Trump has touted as a possible treatment for COVID-19, even as medical experts urge caution because it has yet to be vetted for that purpose through robust clinical trials.

So far, accurate.

The doctor who prescribed it to 27 residents of The Resort at Texas City was Robin Armstrong, the nursing home’s medical director and a prominent GOP activist who serves as a surrogate for the Trump campaign. The drug’s efficacy is being tested at the nursing home, where more than 80 residents and workers have tested positive for the new coronavirus, as its role in treating COVID-19 patients is debated across the country.

Here is where we starting to see a bit of word play. Mentioning that the doctor is a “GOP activist”  and “surrogate”  tries to give the image of negativity and doing it for the wrong political reasons rather than for medical reasons.

The federal government has approved it on an emergency basis in some COVID-19 cases, though medical experts — including some inside the Trump administration — have been far less willing to embrace its widespread use.

IT MIGHT BE DANGEROUS! EXPERTS SAY SO! WHY IS TRUMP DOCTOR PLAYING WITH THE LIFE OF GRANDMA?

Armstrong, who said his politics have nothing to do with his practice as a physician, acknowledged that there has not been robust clinical testing of the drug for this purpose but said he is very familiar with the medication and the risks and benefits it carries. The disease’s mortality rate is higher among elderly coronavirus patients, he said, so he wanted to try something proactive to help them heal — to “treat folks like I would my mom,” he said in an interview Monday evening.

“He said? Ha! We don’t believe him, you know he is lying!”  I man, experts have been warning us. What experts? Well, they do appear a lot in certain News Channels and shows, so they must really know their shit, right?

“It’s a vulnerable population — it’s certainly a judgment call,” he said. “It’s responsible if you monitor them properly, and that’s certainly what we’re doing.”
Many of the patients began the five-day course of treatment Saturday, and all are still at the nursing home.

Wait, what? They have been in treatment for 2 full days when this hit piece was published and they did not die? But we were told the treatment was deadly! We are talking almost Ziklon B stuff.

Next, they finally remmeber to add this bit of GOP information about the doctor”

Armstrong, who serves on the advisory board of the Black Voices for Trump coalition, is one of Texas’ two Republican National Committee members.

Oh yes, the good doctor happens to be black, one of those evil traitors who are not living happily in the Democratic Plantation.

The article has no photos of the doctor, but I found this one over the Houston Chronicle.

I did a bit more digging on The Resort at Texas City, the facility where Dr. Armstrong works and I found this sad story.

TEXAS CITY, Texas — (NOTE: the video attached to this article is from Friday, April 3, 2020, before Smith passed away.)
Sam Quinn rushed to see his mother Friday morning after staff at the Resort at Texas City had called Sam’s sister to inform her that she appeared to be dying.
Quinn said he wore a face mask in the facility and spent five hours with his mother, 87-year-old Peggy Smith, not knowing about that the outbreak of COVID-19 patients in the nursing home had reached 83 people, both residents and employees.
When Quinn eventually left, an employee ran after him to tell him that she had tested positive. He learned the news in the parking lot.
Quinn said his mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, died on Saturday morning. He was concerned there might already be COVID-19 at the home.

Son of Galveston County’s first COVID-19 death speaks of his last visit with her at Texas City nursing home

The article goes on to say the facility may have been infected by a part time worker also laboring in other places and may have brought the virus in.  I am not saying the death of Peggy Smith made Dr. Armstrong decided to start  treating other infected residents the same day as the death, but I would not be surprised if it did. And I also predict we won’t hear anymore about this location of the good doctor if no more people die.

If you think about it, there is one more sad and sick reason Democrats are opposing anything that would save the lives of infected patients. The most likely target for death is over 65, with previous serious medical conditions, right? Corona virus is Nature’s own Death Panel. Obamacare writ pandemic.

  1. Media: “Mass death from Coronavirus was supposed to turn everyone against Trump. Trump took anecdotal evidence and turned it into hope and got the government out of way of doctors doing what they thought would save the lives of people with no other shot, and it seems to be working. Now we have to scare people into not using this treatment so they will die and hate Trump.”

  2. These libtard “journos” should sign a legal waiver that they will never use this treatment for the ChiCom flu virus, since it gets their panties all bunched up this frequently.

  3. Unless a number of the patients being treated pass away, this story will be memory holed. No doubt about it.

I am actually surprised that it even made it to the news. Since the FDA approved the Emergency Use Authorization allowing off label use to treat the disease, the drug has practically disappeared from the main stream news.

    1. Given that off label use is always legal, I’m not entirely sure why the emergency use authorization was even needed. Perhaps to make it more obvious that it’s legal?

      1. It wasn’t a legal thing, it was perception/political thing.

        Trump: This drug shows promise!
Doc: Hmm, drug is in the PDR as safe at these doses. These respected medical people are trying it at these doses. Ok, that’s safe and it might work. Let me try it even though it is “off label.”
Media: You gave him something that isn’t approved for Covid-19 and he died! You are a bad doctor and a Trumpesta!
FDA: Drug is now ON label for covid-19 via emergency use authorization.
Doc: Hmmm, drug is in the PDR as safe at these doses. These respected medical people are trying it at these doses. OK, that’s safe and might work. Let me try it.
Media: You gave him something that Trump promoted! You are a bad doctor and a Trumpesta!
        Doc: FU.

  4. Updated report. Doctor gave the HCQ to 39 of 56 residents. All were alive, with one still having a tough time as of 4/14. Lost link.

Also saw a Brazilian Drug Trial report. They stopped because of heart problems in half the participants. What? They were giving the patients 600 mg twice a day for ten days. 1200 mg a day. No freaking wonder!?! That is close to a lethal dose?

Dr. Zelenko was treating with 400 mg the first day, and 200 mg the next four days, IOW about what the Brazilian trial used every day.
