Threats: Decreases penalty for threatening to throw, project, place, or discharge any destructive device with intent to do bodily harm to any person or with intent to do damage to any property of any person; prohibits threats to use firearm or weapon with specified intent; provides exceptions.
I watched the streaming and the bill has approval so far, but it will be narrowed in scope to avoid questions of First Amendment violations and misuse by LEOs or Prosecutors. The Senate version appears to be what everybody wants.
(2) It is unlawful for any person to threaten the use of a firearm or any weapon at a child care facility as defined in s.402.302, a school as defined in s. 790.115(2)(a), a religious institution as defined in s. 496.404(23), a theme park complex as defined in s. 817.361(1)(c), or any building owned by a federal, state, county, municipality, or other local government or political subdivision, with intent to do bodily harm to any person or with intent to do damage to any of the listed properties, if the threat is sufficient to cause alarm in a reasonable person.
If both bills have this language, and maintain the exception for Self Defense, we can pretty much ignore it as (IMHO/IANAL) will not be of consequence to us.
