I wouldn’t count on any more Good gun bills.
The GOP in general is not pro-gun. The try to sell themselves that way, but when it comes to brass tacks, at best they are somewhat less anti-gun than the Dems.
And they are only less anti-gun than the Dems as long as it’s politically expedient. The SECOND a crisis comes along, they’ll vote in favor of whatever “gun control” bills the Dems dream up.
There are exceptions, but they are just that: exceptions.
The GOP likes its power just as much as the DNC, and an independent, armed citizenry is every bit the threat to that power as it is to Leftist tyrants. Neither party gives more than passing lip service to the Constitution or individual freedoms. You can tell because neither party, while it’s in power, puts any serious effort to undoing what the other party has imposed. Instead, you get token debates, mock votes, and non-binding resolutions, and an executive branch that settles for “we won’t enforce that provision”.
Great, but it’s still the law, and the next administration could reverse course and go to town.
No, the only way the citizens are safe is to fully repeal anti-freedom laws. Not just “not enforce” them; remove them from the books entirely.
And — individual members notwithstanding — neither party is willing to do that.
