General Bill by Perry
Restoration of Civil and Firearm Rights: Requiring that a person who has lost his or her civil rights and rights to purchase, own, transfer, or use firearms or ammunition based on a felony conviction for an offense other than murder, attempted murder, a violent felony offense, or a felony sexual offense have such disqualifications terminated upon the completion of all terms of his or her sentence; defining the term “violent felony offense”, etc.
And somebody finally dropped this long overdue grenade. We allow violent felons to vote but non-violent offenders cannot recover their right to Keep and Bear Arms? Please explain that to the People Mr. Liberal Congresscritter.
Be ready for the avalanche of lies from the Media.
And of course I am in full support of this bill.
I vividly remember a political ad from when I was in college that touched on this topic.
It showed a man handing out 1911s to men wearing prisoner work uniforms (the bluejean ones, not the orange jump suits) as they filed off a bus with a STATE PENITENTIARY painted on the side.
Voiceover: “So and so voted for felons to get their guns back when they leave prison. He said it’s so they can go hunting. But will they be hunting YOU AND YOUR FAMILY?”
So you’ve got that to look forward to.
Outstanding and long overdue.
The increase in non-violent and statutory felonies especially when paired with a non-prison plea deal offer is scary.
