Behold!

It’s a 3/4″ to 1/2″ reducer bushing threaded to a 1/2″ to 1/4″ reducer bushing threaded to a 1/4″ air hose quick connect.

Attach it to a garden hose and set your air compressor regulator to 50 psi.

Blows the water out of hose on a reel.

Great for getting a hose on a reel ready for movers to take it.

Also probably good for winterizing hose.

About $6 worth of parts at Lowe’s.

  1. We have a similar fitting we use to blow out our lawn sprinkler system for winterization. Although ours has more hose clamps. 🙂

  2. Engineering solution, spend a little time and some money to design a way to do the job. Redneck way, stick the air hose in the water hose and duct tape them together. ;))

  3. When moving, I just drained the hose as much as I could, and connected the female end to the male end. Any remaining water stayed in the hose.
For winter, I just disconnect from the hose bib, coil it horizontally, and let it drain. There remaining water will never expand enough to harm the hose.
