Not only 2,000 cops but uncoordinated officers listening to false reports of additional shootings.
So kudos to the officers on the scene for not shooting anybody that did not need shooting including fellow officers in civilian clothes. (Oh shit, there goes that argument against Open carry!)
And the “WTF were you thinking” award to the bosses that apparently never consider to plan inter-agency coordination for a possible mass casualty event in the Fort Lauderdale Airport.
Pretty much every airport has poor inter-agency comms. Lots of other large venues do too. Thats why YOU are your 1st responder and should pay attention always.
The ‘Run Hide Fight’ video tailored for my agency has FAMs announcing themselves and joining responding LEOs in the sweep. Considering that’s Indianapolis International that they filmed it in, they obviously had a plan. So maybe for FLL it’s less the grunts and more the management.

Seriously, did every cop in Broward County come to the airport?
Was everybody with a badge just bored of dealing with snowbirds and want to get into a shootout for the excitement?
