Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn should always remember that it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open your mouth and remove any doubt. After getting a strong denial from Gov. Rick Scott about suspending Floridian’s right to carry concealed nearby the GOP Convention, Myor Buckhorn ripost was not a smart one:
“I believe that there is no reason to have a concealed firearm in downtown Tampa that week. And to be clear, I am far less concerned with those who have concealed weapons permits than the ones who may somehow acquire a weapon and use it to create mayhem”
Sparky, at first glance one may say you may want to check Florida Statutes or at least a lawyer before saying stuff like that. Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit is already illegal in Florida. But since we know better, I am assuming that you tried to cover the political poop you already laid by insinuating we need double secret probation of those who carry illegal and you never meant to infer that the almost 46,000 citizens of Hillsborough County with a CWP were criminals , specially since you won your last election by barely 10,000 votes.
Perhaps Hizzoner lacks the self-awareness to realize that, in the second sentence you quoted, he flatly contradicts the first sentence you quoted.
Mister Mayor, “I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
