CLAP or Comités Locales de Abastecimiento y Producción (Local Committees of Supply and Production) is supposed to be local civilian groups that provide a box with a minimum supply of food for a family,  an emergency government gift to the people of Venezuela due to the lack of stable foodstuff availability because the Evil Empire is sabotaging the means of producing local food or some imaginary shit like that.

I can’t find for sure what’s the frequency of distribution nor how many people are supposed to eat out of the contents and for how long because simply nobody knows for sure. The program is so riddle with incompetence and corruption that several containers with up to 400 metric tons of the stuff were smuggled into Colombia and found yesterday by the police.

“What’s in the box?” I am glad you asked. There is no basic guideline and it is subject to what the government can find through its minions who depend on third parties with an eye for profit to get them from outside the country. Here is one of the many list of contents of a CLAP box.

Pasta, rice, flour (wheat or corn), spam-equivalent, tuna, powdered milk, cooking oil, mayo, black beans, cracked dry peas, sugar and ketchup. The total weight according to that list is around 8.5 kilograms or 18.7 pounds, which is funny because when it came out, it was supposed to be a total of 20 kilos of food per box according to the government. They are no longer making those claims, I wonder why

Following the tradition of other Socialist countries, the official food ration is not only small but crappy and hard to find forcing people to wait in line for hours for a chance to get a box.

Plus the system is so messed up and so corrupt that sometimes they don’t even have the boxes:

And the packages sometimes get detoured to re-sellers who will offer the individual items in the black market or even in the street in makeshift stands.

Don’t forget: This is a top-down, government-controlled and military-secured operation.  The only way that the food ends up in the black market (and a lot of it) is that there is a widespread corruption through the system.

This is the system that Bernie Sander, Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Danny Glover and other idiots applauded and still support. This is what they want our country to go.
