I hope this young man doesn’t get into trouble for this.  I’d be happy to chip in a few bucks toward his defense and maybe a big one ton diesel with a brush guard.

    1. Who’s to say he didn’t, and the “mostly peaceful” protesters busted it out with the skateboard?

(He probably did have them open, but still….)

  1. It’s not “civil disobedience” if you’re violent. Kidnapping people is violence.

    1. Punching the driver of a moving vehicle is violence. Swinging a skateboard and stabbing with the point of an umbrella is violence.

There was a LOT of violence going on in that short clip, and most of it was NOT the driver of the car.

In one sense, none of it was the driver; IANAL, but IMHO, driving away without exiting the vehicle is “retreating in complete safety”, as is required in “duty to retreat” states, and even in “Stand Your Ground” states is strongly recommended. Oregon is not a “duty to retreat” state. If I were on his jury, unless some evidence comes up that he was the aggressor, I’d vote to acquit.

  2. The irony of a group of “mostly peaceful” protesters who generally oppose fossil fuels getting run down by (what looks like) a Honda Insight hybrid, is not lost here.

    😉
