“Some argue that all manner of attackers — from hardened terrorists to irrational madmen to career criminals — tend to target places that ban the carrying of firearms. They know that in those locations they will not meet armed resistance. The fact that this attacker targeted little girls at a concert underscores the enemy’s desire to attack the vulnerable, not the well-defended.
In the wake of the Manchester concert bombing, can we finally declare the total failure of gun-free zones as a means to protect the innocent from the evil acts of terrorists and maniacs?

This is not from a weird Pro Gun blog or some renegade cop’s blog. This is PoliceOne.com, the largest and most reputable online LEO Organization/Publication in the US.
Unfortunately it is gonna take more massive deaths to finally get rid of the Religion of The GFZ Sign. It makes for great PR on Election time (as long as the Media keeps perpetuating the lie) and if the politicos have any kids, they are not going to soft target schools nor attending soft target events without armed security.
Because they are Our Betters in case you did not know.
Gun free zones aren’t about safety. No one – even those touting such zones – really believes that having a gun-free zone makes anyone safer. Only the truly imbecilic (is that a word?) imagines that a person with violent intent would be remotely stopped by a sign.
They’re about virtue signaling. They’re about making gun ownership difficult, annoying, and legally hazardous. And especially, they’re about keeping “your kind” out of “their” space.
And for some, they’re about their belief that you, as a law abiding legal firearms carrier, are inherently a threat to them. That belief is borne of 1) ignorance, including the willful kind (the gun might just go off) or 2) their belief that you are just a hair trigger from becoming a killer. Despite all the absolutely overwhelming evidence to the contrary, they really believe that as a concealed carry holder you are one bad cup of coffee from becoming a murderer.
They believe that because they believe that about themselves, so they project on you. They believe that because it justifies imposing their “guns are icky and scary” limitations on you. It’s not rational. It’s not reasonable. It’s certainly not “common sense.” But it’s what they believe. This is the Joan Petersons of the world. There’s nothing remotely rational there.
And they hold on to their beliefs passionately, despite all evidence to the contrary. And yes, we do it too. Our beliefs are, I know, more in line with rational observation of humanity, but some of us would hold on to them even if they weren’t.
Because our beliefs shape who we are. And we’re human.
It also has to do with control. Those who covet power over their fellows NEED to find ways to control them.
