The first time I every went full-auto was with a 1919 Browning LMG converted to .308…into a car I had bought for $20 for that that purpose!
I don’t have a ton of experience with belt fed guns, but it strikes me that the position of the belt is asking for a jam…
the same thought did occur to me as well. and when it jams it’s probably gonna hurt.
