Start with a budget of 18 million.

Miss Sloane’s Box Office on weekend two made just above half of the previous weekend.

This was last week.

Not counting advertising expenses, the losses for the movie are way past 14 million dollars.

Now, if the company had invested that much money on buying guns and selling them through FFLs across the nation, They would have recouped the money by Black Friday and made a nifty profit by Christmas.

Cup of schadenfreude anyone?

  1. Even if it wasn’t a gun control movie, I can’t imagine a movie I’d go to that was about, “determined young activist woman takes on Evil XXXX Industry”.

Do movies like that ever make money?

  2. I went to that website that gives spoilers and it gave a detailed account of the whole movie. I actually read the whole thing. First point I want to make: she is battling against a group called “The Gun Lobby.” Second: the bill she wants to pass is for … Wait for it… Background Checks. Yup. Because, we, like…don’t have ’em, m’kay? Third: as a lobbyist, she is happy to break the law, spy on her former boss, betray friends, because… Background Checks! She is indicted by Congress and convicted for bribery or something, and serves a few months of a ten-year sentence. Sympathy for her noble deed of breaking the law causes Congress critters to change their minds, reject the Gun Lobby, and pass….Background Checks!
They would have to pay me at least $500 to see this most boring movie ever. In case the producer reads this post, I will tell you a secret: NICS!

    1. Yikes! That synopsis shows that the movie would be a failure even if her cause was noble like preventing babies from being thrown into trash compactors.

    1. Yes! Too true! Propaganda doesn’t have to be accurate to be effective: The Big Lie that is told and repeated until the masses believe it’s true. It’s a hard sell to gun owners since we see the obvious lies of the anti-gunners. Our most potent weapon is our opportunity to educate the fence-sitters. Our focus needs to be the continual education of legislators and fence-sitters alike. We are fighting the Big Lie. I’m glad this movie is failing at the box office, but remember: these days movies don’t disappear — they go to BluRayNetflix heaven. We will be fighting this a long time. Be ready and fight the Big Lie with facts.
