Sustained winds of 175 miles per hour . That makes Irma a F3 tornado the size of almost the whole state of Florida.

Since I lived in Florida, this is the first time I am seriously considering evacuation. The question is to where?

Not gonna lie folks. I am a tad scared. Prepping only takes you so far unless you are a billionaire and even then the best choice might be to GTFO.

I’ll keep you posted.

  1. If you can make it to inland Georgia you should be fine. If you want to come to Nashville you’re more than welcome to stay at my house for a few days.

  2. That makes Irma a F3 tornado the size of almost the whole state of Florida. Not really. Those winds are in the eyewall, and the eye is like 15 miles across. The winds are strong outside the wall, but they drop off with distance. Florida’s 50 miles across where you are, but over 100 across up near Tampa. I’d bet the cat 5 winds don’t cover 25 miles.

I’m with Wizardpc on this. Inland Georgia will be OK. It might follow you (us) but it will be a tropical storm by the time it gets there. That’s a 4 hour drive for me, but if the roads are packed, I’m sure it’s a full day. Atlanta is 8 hours for me, but usually takes 9 because traffic around Atlanta always, always sucks. Going to North Georgia or Alabama would be two day drive.

  3. I’d offer you a place to stay, but CO is a long and unreasonable amount of travel just to get away when there are plenty of closer places. That said, if you feel like making your way all the way to CO, you are welcome here.
I agree that GTFO is in order. Stuff is just stuff, and can be replaced. Lives are not replaced. Get out now while the getting out is easier. And if it will help, I’ll even tip jar you to do it, even though I really hate paypal.
