I can’t fault his tactics and I don’t think she’ll be doing that again any time soon with a cast on her arm.

Alternative- clamp a big pair of vise grips on her arm
Being that he walked out directly w/ a bat, I’m betting that’s a regular thing that happens.
At the very least, it’s probably happened before. There’s a distinct difference, I’d wager, between the sounds of ‘mail coming through slot’, ‘polite knock on door’ and ‘fumbling moron reaching through mail slot’.
