Sorry but if the spectacle of a ragtag band of savvy Home Depot shoppers armed with $50 leaf blowers choking out federal stormtroopers with their own tear gas doesn’t fill you with joy, you’re a bad patriot who hates America, sorry I don’t make the rules https://t.co/mVuk6TcYKa

What would fill me with joy is seeing these insurrectionists who are wounding police with IDEs and blinding lasers start catching live, lethal munitions.
Hmmmm,I remember when I was told that my AR15 wasn’t going to stop the government when they decide to take my give. Yet here they are telling me that leaf blowers will…
Therefore,
It all depends on the Rules of Engagement.
Two weeks before the election, When the Democrats finally realize they are losing, look out. The Democrat leadership will allow the crazy insane Antifa Militants free rein to try to change the results. It will get ugly, and much more violent. Any action that they think will hurt OrangeManBad and his supporters.
Their first goal will be Violent Terror, and will not have any fig leaf of “protest.” They will go after Federal Police in mobs away from the Portland Courthouse. They will attack ordinary citizens too.
Their second goal follows from the first. Make the government violently fight back. Seeing a buddy or his family hurt will make it likely the Federal Police more likely to react violently in return. This goal is to make the people turn against the government. Ask anyone in a revolutionary organization, this is basic dogma since the Bolsheviks.
With our blindly hating leftist media misinforming the public, it just may work!
About those lasers: it seems to me a sniper could make short work of those. Just aim for the green dot.
Except for two things.
One, a small shot of the laser up the scope would do more damage than to a bare eye … the scope optic will be collecting more light (assuming the laser beam diameter is larger than the average human eye pupil at the relevant distances).
Two, if the terrorists are smart they’ll start using the laser in short bursts, perhaps with a simple sighting system, making it harder to lock on.
Here’s hoping they don’t start using near-IR lasers.
I’m with pkoning. A protester pulls out a laser pointer and aims it toward an officer’s face, he wins himself a bullet.
Retina damage is the same if it’s stimulated photons or an ice pick. The respo5tona laser should be the same as a protester trying to gouge a cop’s eyes with a sharp object.
But Boris, they already are.
The green lasers are near-IR diode-pumped solid-state lasers with either no IR filters or very bad ones.

That’s disturbing. (My sister in law’s standard comment “cheap china crap” comes to mind for the “design” discussed in that MIT paper.) It implies that “laser goggles” won’t help, not unless they are designed to attenuate not just the green wavelength but also the IR one. That’s certainly possible but since those goggles are designed for professional work, which presumably is done with competently designed lasers, it normally would not work that way.
This whole “storm trooper” thing is a bit of a stretch frankly. The overwhelming majority of the actions taken by the Feds is defensive. Not sure how you get stormtrooper from a bunch of cops standing between the mob and a building.
On the other hand, if they cannot demonize the people protecting the buildings, they might actually realize they are people who are doing their job, and the mob is not exactly justified in attacking them.
