Atlanta police officers called out sick to protest the filing of murder charges against an officer who shot a man in the back, while the interim chief acknowledged members of the force feel abandoned amid protests demanding massive changes to policing.

Interim Chief Rodney Bryant told The Associated Press in an interview that the sick calls began Wednesday night and continued Thursday, but said the department had sufficient staff to protect the city. It’s not clear how many officers called out.

“Some are angry. Some are fearful. Some are confused on what we do in this space. Some may feel abandoned,” Bryant said of the officers. “But we are there to assure them that we will continue to move forward and get through this.”

Atlanta Police Call Out Sick Over Charges in Fatal Shooting

Yesterday Atlanta Gov and the Media were ignoring or dismissing the Blue Covid. Now it is a different tune because they can’t hide the obvious gaps in coverage even though they swear the are OK. The info coming out Cop Social Media groups and blogs paints a different picture than the official narrative.

He would not say how many officers called out. But just one officer showed up for work Thursday morning in one zone, which several dozen are assigned to patrol, according to Vince Champion, southeast regional director for the International Brotherhood of Police Officers.

Let’s see what happens starting tonight and extending through the weekend. I have the feeling the Second Amendment tools will be at the ready in many a household in the Atlanta area.

  1. Now that the news has broken that the strain of blue flu in Atlanta right now is as virulent as Ebola, I expect the damage that will be done my the criminal element taking advantage of the situation will make Sherman’s march to the sea look like a garden party.

We need to quarantine the Atlanta Police Department to flatten the curve./sarc

That’s gonna hurt restaurants, night clubs, theaters etc. Just when Georgia was recovering from Wu-V shutdowns. Nobody is going to leave their homes undefended for a Friday evening out.

    1. And I am sorry for the people there who didn’t vote for the mayor etc.

Unfortunately, collective punishment is the net result, deserved or no.
