This guy is the proof. A Venezuelan sent to some international ski competition.

France had already extradited when he was visiting on suspicion he was using the competition as an excuse to illegally migrate to Europe. Stink was raised and the fella was allowed to go to the competition.

There is skiing in Venezuela (or was): Water Skiing.  It has over 1,700 miles of coastline and some beautiful beaches so yes, water skiing is rational. But skiing in snow?

This is Pico Bolivar in a very good year. What you see is all the snow that is produced in the country and I don’t think you could cover three football fields with it. Also notice the slopes, not quite the smooth ride you expect a skiing program to be developed as they are very steep and the soil is very loose. I know, I climbed that area.

Probably Mr. Solano is the kid of some high political official or a highly connected (and suspiciously rich) member of the inner government party who told daddy he wanted to compete in the snow because he was very good in the WII Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics and daddy said yes.
