…Why Lie?
These are captured from a gnat of a troll in Twitter. The same entity accused anybody who was Pro-2A of being a Russian Bot and paid shill for the NRA which leads me to believe he/she does not have a clear idea what either “bot” or “shill” really means.
Of course when I asked for a source, I was ignored and he/she continued with the silliness.
In a sense, we know people are inclined to accept short false statements because they are easier to absorb than the longer truth. And sometimes it is tempting to play the same game. Our side has been pretty decent on coming down on Fake Quotes and memes. I still remember the Usenet fights over this Hitler fake quote:
This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
— Adolf Hitler, 1935
To this day I see the occasional newbie popping this quote in social media and in most cases, somebody shows up really fast to tag the post as fake. Unfortunately I have also seen people posting memes or screen caps that were identifiable a Photoshop or something the Opposition would never say. But when called upon it, I have gotten the response that they might be false, but it represents what the particular Gun Control group stands for, basically admitting they knew it was a lie, but posted it anyway. That is not a sound strategy because once tagged as a liar and demonstrated, your reputation is pretty much impossible to rescue and damages the efforts many others are doing.
Never forget that it has been Gun Control the one that loved slavery. Truth is not a slogan nor it reads easy but it is necessary or you will end on the wrong side of history.
I can’t find a credible source (or any source, actually) for those two quotes, neither of which fit the style of writing for the founding fathers anyhow.
I did find this, though, where an anti-gunner debunks the 2A vs. slavery myth well enough, and it’s on The Root, to boot (pun intended): https://www.theroot.com/2nd-amendment-passed-to-protect-slavery-no-1790894965
Actually, the first half of Mason’s statement was indeed said/written by him, as warning of what the British would try to do.
The second half is an utter lie, as he was a wealthy land owner who believed slavery was wrong and needed to be abolished. He fought against allowing new states unless slavery was prohibited in those new states. He wanted the end of slavery in America, with a gradual emancipation, and an immediate end to all importation of slaves.
The Jefferson quote doesn’t appear to be real in any way. Big surprise there. Jefferson’s name gets attached to all kinds of quotes, in support of and against many positions. Unless the person can produce some sort of verifiable source, I’d consider it utterly false.
One of the main progtards’ maxims is that if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth. “Social” media has been flooded with that kind of b.s. for years and most sheeple are too lazy to look past it.
Lying progtards lying? There’s a surprise. 😉
I’d go for this one instead
“Any unarmed people are slaves, or are subject to slavery at any given moment.”
Huey Newton
Quoting a Black Panther at a progtard should make for some consternation.
